To add a donation ticker to an OBS stream, configure a ticker with a donation provider, copy its widget URL, and add that URL to your scene as an OBS Browser source. The provider handles donations; OBS displays the ticker overlay.
What you need before you start
OBS Studio does not process donations itself. You need a third-party provider or a supported platform fundraising option to handle donations, plus a browser-source-capable streaming app to show the provider’s overlay. OBS describes this distinction in its donation FAQ.

- An account with a provider that supports the ticker or activity display you want.
- The provider’s widget URL for that ticker.
- OBS Studio and the scene where the ticker should appear.
Set up a Streamlabs Donation Ticker in OBS
1. Find the widget URL
- Log in to the Streamlabs Dashboard.
- Under Streaming Essentials, open Donation Ticker.
- On the ticker settings page, find the Widget URL at the top and select Click to Copy Widget URL. Streamlabs’ guide documents this route: How to Locate and Use Streamlabs Widget URLs.
The URL embeds your configured widget. Treat it as private account configuration; do not put it on screen as visible text or share it publicly.
2. Add it as an OBS Browser source
- In OBS Studio, select the scene that should show the ticker.
- In the Sources panel, select +, then choose Browser.
- Name the source so you can identify it later, paste the widget URL into the URL field, and set the width and height to suit your layout.
- Save the source, then position and resize it in the scene canvas. Check the preview to make sure it does not cover important content and is not clipped.
OBS’s stream layout tutorial uses the same general Browser-source approach for provider overlays. Streamlabs notes that width, height, and FPS can be adjusted when needed. Use a provider preview or test function if one is available in your current interface; its exact controls may change.

3. Check the live scene
- Confirm the source is visible in the intended scene.
- Make sure the ticker’s size and placement are readable without obscuring gameplay, captions, or other essential overlays.
- If you use scene transitions or multiple scenes, check that the ticker is present wherever you expect it to appear.
Choosing a ticker provider
Streamlabs is a directly documented example for Donation Ticker setup. OBS also names Streamlabs alerts and StreamElements multi-widget overlays as provider-overlay examples, but that does not establish that StreamElements currently offers this exact Donation Ticker feature. Confirm that any provider supports the event display you need and works with your broadcast software through a browser source.
Before settling on a provider, check which account or platform it requires, what styling and placement controls it offers, and whether its payment or fundraising arrangements fit your stream. Ticker versus donation goal
A ticker displays supporter activity; a donation goal tracks progress toward a campaign target. They are separate widgets, so choose the ticker for activity rather than following goal-widget instructions. Streamlabs documents its Charity Donation Goal as a distinct campaign-progress feature: Streamlabs Charity Donation Goal Widget.
Troubleshooting
The ticker is blank or missing
- Check that you copied the URL from the correct widget’s settings page.
- Confirm the URL is in a Browser source, not a text or image source.
- Make sure the source is enabled in the active scene.
The ticker is clipped or too small
Adjust the Browser source’s width and height, then resize or reposition it on the scene canvas. Preview the layout again after each change.

Changes in the provider dashboard do not appear as expected
For Streamlabs Tip Ticker, Streamlabs says changes made outside Streamlabs Desktop are handled in the Streamlabs web dashboard. Check the widget settings there and then inspect the OBS preview. See Streamlabs Tip Ticker.
Donations arrive, but no activity appears on screen
Check that the provider receiving the donation events is the same provider whose widget URL is in the active scene, and verify that the relevant ticker widget is enabled. These are practical checks based on how provider overlays are connected; they are not a guaranteed diagnosis.
