To set up a 75-inch TV safely, match the support to the exact television model, make sure the stand or wall and fasteners can bear the installation, and prevent tipping. On a stand, use low, sturdy TV furniture and secure the TV and furniture where appropriate. On a wall, follow the TV and mount manuals and confirm the wall and hardware are suitable; if you are unsure, consider a professional installer.
Before you choose a stand or wall mount
“75-inch” describes the screen’s diagonal size; it does not tell you the TV’s weight, mounting pattern, screw requirements, or the dimensions of its feet. Check the exact model number and consult its manual before selecting a support. Then verify that the stand, mount, and—if wall mounting—the wall and attachment method are suitable for that specific set.

There is no universal winner between a stand and a wall mount. Compare compatibility, load capacity, whether the TV and furniture can be anchored, cord and child-access conditions, and whether you can safely complete the installation.

How to set up a 75-inch TV on a stand
- Choose furniture made for a TV. Use a low, stable TV stand or media center. Check its rated capacity and top dimensions against the TV manual and the television’s product dimensions. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) says, “Televisions should only be placed on furniture designed to hold a television, such as television stands or media centers.” CPSC AnchorIt guidance
- Position the set securely. Do not let the TV overhang the supporting furniture. Push it back from the front edge, while following the manufacturer’s placement and ventilation instructions. Avoid unstable shelves, unsuitable bedroom furniture or dressers, and placing cloth between the TV and its supporting surface.
- Reduce tip-over risks. Anchor the TV and furniture to the wall when appropriate, using hardware suited to the specific TV, furniture, and wall. Recheck the anchors periodically. CPSC advises anchoring TVs that are not wall-mounted; if anchoring is not possible, its February 2026 advice is to use a sturdy, low base, push the TV as far back as possible, and keep cords out of reach. - Keep the area around it safe. Keep toys, remotes, and other tempting items off the TV and high furniture. Route cords so they cannot be grabbed, pulled, or tripped over.
How to mount a 75-inch TV on a wall
- Identify the exact TV model. Use its manual to confirm the VESA mounting pattern, TV weight, screw diameter and length, mount type, and any installation restrictions. Screen size alone is not a compatibility specification.
- Select a compatible mount. Check that the mount supports the TV’s actual weight and mounting pattern. Decide whether fixed, tilting, or articulating movement suits the room, then confirm that the TV and mount manuals permit that setup.
- Check the wall and attachment method. Wall construction affects which fasteners or other attachment hardware are appropriate. Follow the TV and mount instructions rather than assuming that included screws or a particular anchor will suit every wall. For example, a Samsung manual for a particular product family directs installers to fasten brackets to both the wall and TV with appropriately sized screws and notes that wall anchors may be needed depending on wall type. Those product-specific instructions do not establish the requirements for other TVs. Samsung product-family manual
- Plan the lift and installation. A 75-inch screen is large; arrange enough capable help and follow the manufacturer’s handling instructions. Do not attempt work beyond the installers’ ability or contrary to the wall or mount instructions. Why tip-over prevention matters
Anchoring is relevant even when a TV sits on a stand. CPSC estimated that an annual average of 22,500 Americans were treated in emergency departments for tip-over injuries in 2018–2020; nearly 44% were children under 18. The agency also reported 581 furniture, TV, or appliance tip-over fatalities since 2000, including 472 involving children. For households with children, keep cords out of reach and avoid placing tempting objects on or above the furniture. Anchoring the TV alone may not secure a stand that can tip; assess both the television and its supporting furniture.

Consider professional help if you are uncertain about the wall construction, the correct attachment method, compatibility, or safely lifting and positioning the TV. Do not improvise brackets, use shelving as a substitute for a rated mount, or guess at screw and anchor specifications. Exact hardware and instructions depend on the TV, mount, furniture, and wall.
