Before you start: check YouTube eligibility and clear your content
- Your YouTube channel must be verified and must not have a live-streaming restriction within the previous 90 days. YouTube sets a minimum age of 16 for live streaming. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Make sure you have the rights to every video and audio track in the playlist, including music. You must also follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines and applicable laws. A video being available online does not by itself grant permission to rebroadcast it. Review YouTube’s terms.
- Have MP4 files ready. Castr’s prerecorded upload documentation identifies MP4 as the supported format; the file-size and file-count limits depend on your subscription. Confirm the current limits in your account before preparing a large playlist.
Choose the Castr mode that matches your channel

For a straightforward always-repeating channel, choose the pre-recorded Loop mode. Use TV Playout when the timing of individual programs matters. Castr’s product details and account interface are the right places to confirm plan-dependent playlist, storage, duration, file-size, and concurrent-stream limits before subscribing.
Set up a repeating 24/7 stream in Castr
- Create the stream: In the Castr dashboard, create a new Pre-Recorded Stream. The exact dashboard labels can change, so follow the current stream-creation flow for that stream type.
- Add your videos: Upload your MP4 files or select recordings already in your Castr library. Check each file’s playback, audio, and intended order. Keep a copy of the original files outside Castr if you may need to replace or preserve them.
- Arrange the playlist: Put the items in the order viewers should see them. Choose Loop to repeat the playlist. Castr’s guide says playlist size and media limits depend on subscription; infinite looping is a Premium-or-higher feature according to its feature information.
- Connect YouTube: Add YouTube as a destination. Castr describes connecting a YouTube event through its API or entering YouTube’s streaming server and stream key manually. If using a key, copy it from the relevant YouTube live control-room setup and paste it into the matching Castr destination fields. Treat the key like a password; do not publish or share it. Confirm the YouTube destination is enabled.
- Run a private test: Start a private or unlisted test before going public. Check Castr’s preview and input health, then open the stream on YouTube and confirm picture, sound, and playlist playback from a viewer device. Castr and YouTube both recommend testing and checking the received stream.
- Go live and verify: Start the Castr stream, then confirm that YouTube is receiving and showing it as expected. Check the channel from another device or browser rather than relying only on the dashboard preview.
Schedule programs for Indian viewers with TV Playout
If you want different programs to begin at set times rather than an endlessly repeating playlist, configure a TV Playout lineup. Castr’s schedule times use the device’s time zone, so set the computer or device used to create the schedule to India Standard Time before entering India-local broadcast times. Castr then broadcasts the playout into a livestream that can be sent to YouTube.
Confirm the account’s current TV Playout file, duration, and plan limits before building a long schedule. The available documentation does not establish a special India-only configuration or country-specific pricing, so do not assume that plan details differ by location.

Video quality and encoding guidance
For prerecorded delivery to YouTube or Facebook, Castr recommends an average video bitrate of 1,500–2,500 Kbps and AAC audio at 128 Kbps. These are Castr’s recommendations, not a guarantee that every source will look or sound good at those settings. Test a representative upload and inspect the actual YouTube output before scheduling a full playlist. See Castr’s prerecorded-stream guidance.
Do not confuse uploaded-file recommendations with encoder settings for a live camera. For live encoder ingest, Castr separately recommends H.264 video, CBR, AAC or MP3 audio, and a two-second keyframe interval; bitrate depends on resolution and frame rate. Those encoder settings are not prerequisites for cloud playback of prerecorded files.

What 24/7 means for uptime and YouTube replays
Castr’s cloud playback means a local computer does not need to stay on to feed an uploaded playlist. That does not establish guaranteed end-to-end uptime: YouTube or the destination connection can still interrupt a broadcast, so check the stream periodically and respond to platform or service alerts. A successful schedule is not a promise of zero downtime.
YouTube says it can automatically archive a live stream if it is less than 12 hours; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Do not rely on one continuous 24/7 broadcast to create a complete replay. Keep the source files or arrange a separate recording workflow if preserving the programs matters. Troubleshooting common setup problems
