What temperature should a Samsung fridge and freezer be?
Samsung UK recommends setting the fridge to 3°C and the freezer to −18°C when the surrounding temperature is 25°C. Samsung notes that room temperature can affect the ideal setting. These are general recommendations, not a guarantee that every model offers those exact increments. Samsung UK’s temperature guidance explains the recommendation.

Identify your control panel before changing a setting
Samsung uses different control layouts, and the available settings and button sequences depend on the model. Use the procedure below that matches your panel. If its controls do not match, look up the manual for your exact model rather than trying a sequence intended for another refrigerator. Samsung’s US temperature-setting guide also describes more than one control style.

- Tap a control to wake the display if it is off.
- Select Fridge or Freezer. On some models, the choices may also include FlexZone.
- Use the arrows to choose the desired temperature or function, then confirm if the panel prompts you to do so.
- On the Samsung UK panel described in its guide, wait about five seconds. The selected compartment indicator stops flashing when the choice is confirmed.
Arrow-panel procedures are model-specific; consult the manual if your display does not behave this way.

Separate Fridge and Freezer buttons
On the external-display examples in Samsung UK’s guide, press Fridge or Freezer repeatedly to cycle through that compartment’s available temperatures. The selection applies automatically. Those examples offer fridge settings from 1°C to 7°C and freezer settings from −15°C to −23°C; other models may differ.
Twin Cooling presets
The Twin Cooling examples in Samsung UK’s guide use preset steps rather than every possible temperature: 1, 2, 3, 5 or 7°C for the fridge and −23, −21, −19, −17 or −15°C for the freezer. On the side-by-side Twin Cooling panel described there, press Fridge or Freezer to cycle through the settings.

Why the display may not match the setting you chose
Some displays show the compartment’s actual temperature, not just the target setting. After an adjustment, the actual temperature takes time to reach the new setpoint. A Samsung-hosted user manual for a Dacor 36-inch French Door refrigerator says this delay is normal; it is useful for understanding the display behavior, but its controls should not be treated as instructions for every Samsung model. If the actual reading has not changed yet, that alone is not a reason to repeat the adjustment.

Power Cool and Power Freeze are rapid-cooling functions, separate from the ordinary temperature settings. For the side-by-side Twin Cooling panel described by Samsung UK, hold Fridge for three seconds to turn on Power Cool or hold Freezer for three seconds to turn on Power Freeze. Samsung says Power Freeze switches off automatically after 50 hours on that documented example and cautions that it increases power consumption. The button sequence and duration are not universal; check your model’s manual.

When you need the exact button sequence
Find the refrigerator’s full model number and use it to open the matching manual through Samsung support. Model-specific instructions matter because panels differ in their available controls, temperature increments, and confirmation behavior. The general Samsung UK recommendations can help you choose a target, but your model’s manual is the guide to operating its particular panel.
