For normal matchmaking, change the region in Settings → Gameplay. Path of Titans uses Automatic by default; choosing a distant region can increase latency and cause networking or combat problems.
If you own a community server, the current official configuration reference does not document a ServerRegion, country, or flag setting in Game.ini. The flag shown in the server browser may come from the host’s IP-geolocation or platform metadata instead. Do not add an invented configuration key. Verify the server’s actual data-center location with your provider and escalate persistent errors to Alderon support.

First identify which “region” you mean
Path of Titans has three separate concepts that are easy to confuse. Your player preference controls matchmaking. A community server’s physical host controls network distance. The country flag displayed beside a server is a listing or geolocation label, not the same control as your Gameplay preference.

Changing one of these does not automatically change the others. For example, selecting a European matchmaking region does not move a community server hosted in North America, and renaming a server does not change its public IP geolocation.

Change your matchmaking region as a player
This is the supported procedure when you want official matchmaking to prefer a particular part of the world.
- Launch Path of Titans and stay at the main menu.
- Open Settings.
- Select the Gameplay tab.
- Find the preferred server-region or world-region control.
- Choose the region you want, or select Automatic.
- Return to Multiplayer and start matchmaking.
When to leave it on Automatic
Automatic is the default. It is the sensible choice when you want matchmaking to select a nearby or otherwise appropriate region without manually forcing a distant one. Alderon warns that selecting a far-away region can significantly increase latency and lead to networking issues that affect combat. A high-latency connection can make movement, hit registration and encounters feel unreliable even when your local internet connection appears healthy.
When a manual region helps
Manually selecting a region can be useful when you are coordinating with players in another area or when you need to test whether a particular region is causing connection problems. Treat it as a matchmaking preference, not a command to relocate a server. If you need to join a friend immediately, Alderon also documents joining directly through the friends list; that bypasses normal matchmaking selection.

The Gameplay control does not rewrite a community server’s configuration, move its machine, or change the country icon shown in the browser. It only tells the matchmaking service which region to prefer. If a server is listed under a particular country, selecting that country in your own settings is not a way to correct the listing.
Configure a community server with Game.ini
Community-server owners can self-host or use a Game Server Provider (GSP). Either arrangement uses the server’s configuration files for supported gameplay and session settings. The hosting documentation requires the server to be stopped before edits are made, the file to be saved, and the server to be restarted afterward.

What to confirm before editing
First establish whether you administer the physical machine yourself or use a provider control panel. In a self-hosted installation, you need access to the server configuration directory and permission to stop and start the process. With a GSP, the panel may expose an editor, a file manager, or a support workflow instead. The parent folder can differ by operating system and hosting arrangement, so do not assume that a path copied from another installation is correct.
Dedicated-server deployment also has identity and launch requirements. Alderon’s setup documentation references the AlderonGamesCmd tool, an authentication token, a unique server GUID, database selection, a port, a branch key, and the Path of Titans server executable or start script. These values identify and launch the instance; they are not region or flag overrides. Keep them separate from the session options you edit in Game.ini.

Safe editing procedure
- Stop the server. Do not edit a live instance and expect the running process to reload the file reliably.
- Locate
Game.ini. It is in the server configuration directory; the exact parent path varies by operating system and hosting panel. - Open the correct section. Session settings normally belong under
[/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession]. - Put each option on its own line. Keep the spelling, capitalization and section header intact.
- Save the file. Check that the hosting panel did not remove defaults or write a second copy in another configuration directory.
- Restart the server. Changes are applied when the server starts again.
If an edit appears to vanish, compare the file you changed with the file the startup panel actually loads. Some panels regenerate configuration files or remove values that are not recognized. The safest test is to change one documented setting at a time, restart, and verify the result in-game before making another change.
Documented session settings
The published session-options list includes settings such as these:

Can you set the country flag in Game.ini?
Not according to the current published configuration reference. Its documented keys do not include ServerRegion, Country, Region or a flag-override option. Adding lines such as ServerRegion=Europe or CountryFlag=US is therefore unsupported and should not be presented as a fix.
ServerName changes the text of the server name only. Changing your player’s Gameplay region changes matchmaking preference only. Neither action is documented to alter the flag displayed in the server browser.
Why a server can show the wrong country flag
The flag is best treated as location metadata associated with the server listing, public IP address or hosting platform. A provider may advertise one location while the assigned IP block is registered or geolocated elsewhere. Databases used by platforms can also lag behind a data-center move or an IP reassignment.
Players have reported cases such as a server physically hosted in Washington, DC appearing with a Germany flag while using a commercial provider. That report demonstrates a possible provider/geolocation mismatch; it is not proof that every incorrect flag has the same cause or that a particular file edit will correct it.
Physical location versus displayed metadata

How to correct an incorrect flag
Use an evidence-first support path rather than repeatedly editing configuration files.

- Record the server identity. Write down the exact server name and unique server GUID, including capitalization and punctuation.
- Record the advertised location. Capture the region or country shown in the provider panel, server listing or community announcement.
- Confirm the actual data center. Ask the owner or provider for the city and country where the game server and public network endpoint are running.
- Identify the provider. Note whether the server is self-hosted or supplied by a GSP, and include the provider’s account or instance identifier when available.
- Ask the provider to check geolocation metadata. Request verification of the public IP’s registration and geolocation records, plus the location advertised to the game platform.
- Restart only when the provider asks for it. A normal server restart applies configuration edits, but there is no documented restart-only procedure for changing a flag.
- Escalate to Alderon support if necessary. Include the server name, GUID, provider, advertised region, actual data-center city/country and screenshots of the incorrect flag. Explain what the provider checked and when.
This information lets support distinguish a stale listing label from a genuinely mislocated server. Do not claim that changing Game.ini, changing ServerName or changing your Gameplay region will alter the flag; the published documentation does not establish that behavior.
Evidence checklist for a support ticket
- Exact server name and GUID.
- Screenshot showing the flag and the server listing.
- Provider name, instance identifier and advertised location.
- Actual data-center city and country supplied by the provider.
- Date of any move or IP change, if known.
- Whether the problem is only the icon or also involves unusual latency and disconnects.
- What the provider verified or changed before escalation.
A complete report prevents support from mistaking a matchmaking preference problem for a server-listing problem. It also gives the provider enough information to inspect the correct public IP rather than only the game configuration.
Self-hosting or a Game Server Provider?
Alderon’s Community Servers FAQ allows both approaches. The choice affects how much control you have over infrastructure and who can correct location metadata.

Self-hosting provides direct control but makes you responsible for installation, ports, updates and troubleshooting. A GSP removes much of that infrastructure work, but the provider controls the available locations, network and IP allocation. Neither choice creates a documented flag key inside Game.ini.
Choose a region for lower latency
For players, the practical rule is to use Automatic unless you have a specific reason to select another region. For owners, place the server physically close to the community you intend to serve and verify the provider’s stated location before inviting players.
- Separate preference from geography. A player setting influences matchmaking; it cannot move a community server.
- Expect trade-offs for international communities. A central location may be a compromise, while a distant manual region can hurt combat responsiveness for everyone far from it.
- Use direct friend joins deliberately. Joining through the friends list bypasses matchmaking, so it can connect you to a friend’s server even when your preferred region differs.
- Investigate symptoms, not just labels. A wrong flag with good latency points toward metadata; a wrong flag plus poor latency warrants checking the actual host location and route.
A simple troubleshooting sequence
- Leave the player setting on Automatic and try an official matchmaking session.
- If only one community server feels slow, compare its advertised location with the provider’s actual data-center location.
- If several servers in one selected region are slow, switch back from the distant manual region and test again.
- Join a friend directly to determine whether the issue is matchmaking selection or the particular server connection.
- For a persistent community-server problem, collect the identity and location evidence before contacting support.
This sequence avoids changing several variables at once. It cannot measure a provider’s network quality by itself, but it helps establish whether the symptom follows your player setting, one server, or a broader location mismatch.

Editing while the server is running

Adding an undocumented flag key
Symptom: The file contains ServerRegion or CountryFlag, but the browser flag does not change. Fix: Remove unsupported assumptions and follow the provider-geolocation support path.
Confusing the player setting with the server setting
Symptom: You select a new Gameplay region but a community server still shows the same flag or latency. Fix: Remember that the player control affects matchmaking preference, not the server’s host location or listing metadata.
Assuming the flag proves the data-center location
Symptom: Players conclude that a server is physically in the country shown by the icon. Fix: Verify the actual city and country with the owner or provider; treat the icon as a label until that evidence is available.
