After creating a Selenium Firefox driver, set its window dimensions with driver.set_window_size(width, height). For example, driver.set_window_size(1024, 768) requests a 1024-by-768-pixel window. Django does not change this Selenium API: call it in the code that creates and manages the browser session.
Set Firefox’s window dimensions
Call set_window_size() on the Firefox WebDriver instance, passing width first and height second, in pixels:
driver.set_window_size(1024, 768)Set the size after creating the driver and before navigating to the page or taking measurements. Selenium documents this method for Firefox and gives 800, 600 as an example. See the Selenium Firefox Python WebDriver API.
Use it in a Django test
The browser setup belongs wherever your Django project creates and owns the WebDriver session. Here is a minimal pattern using Django’s LiveServerTestCase; substitute the route you want to test for /:

self.assertEqual(size["height"], 768)The example uses Django’s live test server so the browser can visit the project during the test. If your project creates its driver in a different fixture, test class, or automation entry point, put the sizing call immediately after that creation instead. Ensure the driver is quit during cleanup so the browser session does not remain open.
Verify the size or set the window position too
Use get_window_size() to read the dimensions Selenium reports. It returns a dictionary with width and height keys. For both dimensions and screen position, use the rectangle methods:

Choose the window operation that matches the test

Use explicit dimensions when the test is meant to cover a chosen layout size. Maximizing is different: the resulting window depends on the available screen and operating-system behavior. Selenium notes that screen resolution can affect how a web application renders, and documents window sizing, positioning, reading dimensions, and maximizing in its window and tab guide. There is no universally correct test size; choose one that matches the rendering condition you want to check.

Troubleshoot sizing problems
- The driver is undefined or the call fails before navigation: create the Firefox WebDriver first, then call
set_window_size()on that instance. - The reported size differs from the requested size: inspect
get_window_size()after setting it. If position matters too, useset_window_rect()and inspectget_window_rect(). - The page layout does not match the expected dimensions: compare the Selenium-reported window size with the layout condition your test intends to exercise. Window-management operations and maximizing are not interchangeable.
- The browser stays open after a test: ensure cleanup calls
driver.quit(), including when the test fails; Django does not supply a different window-sizing method.

Does Django have a separate Firefox window-size setting?
No. Set the size on the Selenium WebDriver instance that owns the Firefox session.

What does set_window_size return?
The Firefox API documents set_window_size() with a None return; use get_window_size() to inspect the dimensions.
