Streamlabs’ documented Go Live flow includes a user confirmation step, and the reviewed documentation does not verify unattended playlist streaming at Windows startup. Treat automatic broadcasting as unconfirmed until your installed version passes a restart test.
What you can and cannot automate reliably
There are two separate jobs: launching Streamlabs Desktop, and starting a live broadcast that plays your playlist. Windows Task Scheduler can launch an app when a trigger occurs. That general Windows capability does not guarantee that Streamlabs will load the right scene, find its media files, connect to your account, or begin streaming.

Streamlabs’ “Get started with Streamlabs Desktop” guide, dated July 22, 2026, documents selecting a platform, entering stream details, and confirming with “Confirm & Go Live.” Its Quick Start Guide, dated May 20, 2026, covers scenes, sources, platform connection, and audio, but does not document automatic launch on boot or unattended Go Live. The evidence therefore supports a scheduled app launch as a possibility, not a verified hands-off broadcast setup.

- Open Streamlabs Desktop normally. Confirm that you can sign in or connect your streaming platform and that your intended scene is available.
- Look for a playlist-capable source in the installed version. If one is available, add the prerecorded files and set the sequence and loop behavior in the app. Do not assume that a source or setting documented for another application exists in Streamlabs.
- Check media and audio in preview. Confirm that every file loads, plays in the intended order, loops as intended, and has the expected audio. Use media locations that will still be accessible after a restart; a disconnected drive or changed file path can prevent playback.
- Save the scene or configuration, then close and reopen Streamlabs manually. Check whether the playlist and scene return as expected before attempting startup automation.
If your build does not offer a playlist-capable source, or the playlist does not survive closing and reopening the app, stop here: scheduling Streamlabs will not solve that limitation. Streamlabs’ public setup guides do not establish a supported playlist workflow for every version.

Schedule Streamlabs to launch when you sign in
Task Scheduler is a general Windows mechanism for running a task after a selected trigger, such as a user sign-in or a system event. Microsoft’s developer reference describes that capability, but it is not a Streamlabs-specific recipe. The most cautious starting point is a sign-in trigger, which launches the application in your user session rather than assuming that a background system task can interact with its interface.
- Find the Streamlabs Desktop app entry or executable on your PC. Use the app shortcut or installation details available on your own system; do not guess an executable path.
- Open Windows Task Scheduler and create a task. Choose a trigger for your user sign-in. Configure the action to start the Streamlabs application, using the verified app path from the previous step.
- Keep the task in the same Windows user context that has Streamlabs configured. A task that runs in another account may not have the same saved settings, account session, media access, or permissions.
- Save the task and run it once while you are present. Confirm that Streamlabs opens, the intended scene appears, and the playlist plays in preview. This tests application launch and local playback only—not live broadcasting.
Task Scheduler can start an application, but no reviewed Streamlabs source documents a supported startup argument or setting that automatically performs “Confirm & Go Live.” Do not copy OBS Studio’s --startstreaming launch parameter into a Streamlabs shortcut: that parameter is documented for OBS Studio, not Streamlabs Desktop.

Test before relying on a boot-time stream
Before leaving a channel unattended, perform a controlled restart test and stay available to intervene. A successful app launch is not proof that a public stream is live.
- Restart Windows and check whether the scheduled task runs under the intended account.
- Confirm Streamlabs opens without a sign-in prompt, error dialog, or other interaction that blocks it.
- Check that the correct scene and playlist load, every media path resolves, and playback and audio behave as configured.
- Separately establish whether your installed Streamlabs version can start broadcasting without a person selecting the platform, reviewing stream details, and confirming the Go Live action.
- Check the streaming platform’s own live status from another device or session. Do not rely only on Streamlabs being open or on a local preview.
If any step needs a click or fails after restart, the setup is not unattended. Repeat the test after changes to the Streamlabs version, account connection, Windows account, media paths, or task configuration.

Why OBS instructions do not verify a Streamlabs setup
OBS Studio’s documentation describes a VLC Video source that can use a playlist, with loop and shuffle options; the source requires VLC, and 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. OBS also documents a --startstreaming launch parameter and guidance for adding parameters to a Windows shortcut. These are OBS-specific capabilities, not evidence that Streamlabs Desktop supports the same source or launch behavior.
Do not treat an OBS guide, command-line flag, or scheduled-task example as a Streamlabs procedure unless Streamlabs documents that exact behavior for your installed version. Streamlabs’ reviewed setup materials do not establish an end-to-end method for launching, loading a playlist, and broadcasting automatically at boot.

Common failures and what to check
- Streamlabs opens but the playlist does not play: Recheck whether the source in your version supports the playlist, whether its media paths still resolve, and whether the playlist configuration was saved.
- The app opens to a sign-in or confirmation screen: The task has launched the app, but it has not completed the required interaction. The documented Streamlabs Go Live sequence includes user confirmation.
- The task works when run manually but not after restart: Check that the trigger is configured for the intended Windows user and that the task uses the same account context and media access as the successful manual test.
- Streamlabs is open, but the platform shows no live broadcast: App launch and preview are not broadcast confirmation. Verify the live state on the platform and do not assume a Streamlabs startup action occurred.
- A copied OBS parameter has no effect: Remove it unless Streamlabs documentation for your exact version supports it; OBS’s documented launch parameter does not establish Streamlabs compatibility.
