In ShrinkTheWeb’s documented Drupal 8 integration, configure shared screenshot settings at admin/config/media/shrinktheweb, or use advanced options for one capture. Use custom_width and max_height to change the output image dimensions or crop; use native_resolution and widescreen_resolution_y to change the browser viewport. These are Drupal module parameters—not confirmed current labels in ShrinkTheWeb’s standalone dashboard.
Choose which screenshot size you want to change
“Size” can mean the dimensions of the resulting image or the dimensions of the browser viewport used to render the page. ShrinkTheWeb’s Drupal 8 guide documents separate parameters for these purposes:

| Goal | Documented setting | What it controls |
|---|---|---|
| Set output image width | custom_width |
A custom image width. |
| Limit or crop output height | max_height |
The height to crop the image. |
| Change browser rendering resolution | native_resolution |
A browser resolution dimension. |
| Set widescreen browser height | widescreen_resolution_y |
The Y (height) dimension of the widescreen browser resolution. |
The names and descriptions above are from the Drupal 8 ShrinkTheWeb setup and usage guide. They do not establish what controls, labels, or options are currently available in ShrinkTheWeb’s standalone dashboard.
Change shared screenshot settings in Drupal 8
- In your Drupal administration interface, open
admin/config/media/shrinktheweb. - Enter the ShrinkTheWeb access key and secret key if they are not already configured.
- Adjust the shared size, length, or browser-resolution settings as needed, along with any thumbnail, cache, or additional API settings you use.
- Save the configuration, then check a resulting capture to confirm that the rendered viewport and image dimensions match your needs.
These settings apply to screenshots that use the shared configuration. A global size, length, or browser-resolution change can therefore affect every capture that inherits those settings. If only one image needs different dimensions, use per-request advanced options instead. The guide does not establish current standalone service availability or dashboard behavior.

Set dimensions for one Drupal capture
The Drupal 8 guide shows advanced rendering options passed with a render array. This example reproduces its documented values; they are examples, not recommended defaults:
$build['screenshot'] = [
'#theme' => 'shrinktheweb',
'#url' => 'https://example.com',
'#custom_width' => 600,
'#max_height' => 320,
'#native_resolution' => 1020,
'#widescreen_resolution_y' => 760,
];
Use the options that fit the task rather than assuming all four are required. In particular, image width and crop height affect the output image, while browser-resolution parameters affect the viewport used to render the page. A page may lay out differently at a different viewport, even when the final image dimensions are unchanged.

The example is based on the Drupal module’s documented rendering options, not a verified current standalone API request format. Consult the module’s setup guide for its surrounding implementation and check account access before relying on a custom-size feature.
Check module and account compatibility
The detailed Drupal 8 instructions were last updated on 2019-03-04. The Drupal.org project page displayed an unsupported status dated 2022-01-31; that notice concerns the Drupal integration, not proof that ShrinkTheWeb’s screenshot service is offline. The Drupal 7 documentation also notes Drupal 7 support ended after 2025-01-05. See the ShrinkTheWeb Drupal project page and the Drupal 7 setup guide for those dated integration details.
Rank #3
The Drupal 8 guide warns that some features require an upgraded account, but it does not identify current plan names, prices, or which current accounts include each option. Confirm the live service and your account’s entitlement before building a workflow around custom sizing.
Troubleshoot unexpected dimensions
- The image is wider or narrower than expected: Check whether you changed
custom_width, rather than a browser viewport setting. Confirm the option is being passed in the intended scope. - The capture is cut off vertically: Review
max_height, which the guide describes as the height to crop. A crop limit is not the same as changing the browser viewport height. - The page layout still looks wrong: Check the browser-resolution settings, including
native_resolutionandwidescreen_resolution_y. A different viewport can change responsive layout and content placement. - Other captures changed too: The setting was likely changed globally. Restore the shared value and apply the different dimensions through advanced options for the individual capture.
- A custom option has no effect: Check the parameter spelling and whether it is passed to the capture’s advanced options. The Drupal guide also cautions that some features may require an upgraded account; current entitlements are not established in that guide.
- The Drupal instructions do not match your installation: The guide is dated and the project page’s unsupported notice is also historical. Verify the module and service status for your environment rather than assuming the Drupal 8 steps apply to a current dashboard.
Or skip the browser setup
If your goal is simply to get a screenshot at a chosen size without configuring a browser or Drupal capture, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. Its API accepts one GET request with a URL and returns an image or PDF. For a basic call, use cURL and replace the example URL with the page you want to capture:
Quick Recap
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://example.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for screenshot options and request details. Cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets are removed before capture; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month, with no card.
