Use --page-size to choose a standard paper format, or set both --page-width and --page-height for a custom page. Set each edge independently with --margin-top, --margin-bottom, --margin-left, and --margin-right. Include units such as mm, cm, or in in dimension and margin values.
Set page size and margins from the command line
For a standard sheet, pass a named format to --page-size. This example uses Letter paper, portrait orientation, and explicit margins:

input.html output.pdfReplace input.html with an HTML file or URL and output.pdf with the destination filename. The options are placed before the input so they act as global settings for this single-input command.
Choose standard or custom page dimensions
Named paper size
The wkhtmltopdf usage manual for version 0.12.6 documents A4 as the default page size. Specify another named format with --page-size; its examples include A3, Letter, and Legal. The full set depends on the paper-size values supported by the installed build, so check that build for uncommon formats. See the wkhtmltopdf usage manual.

Custom width and height
When a named format does not match the page you need, set both dimensions. For example, --page-width 210mm --page-height 297mm specifies a 210-by-297 mm page. This is an example of option syntax, not a claim about a conversion tested here. The manual identifies width and height as the finer-grained controls.
Orientation
Use --orientation Landscape or --orientation Portrait. Portrait is the documented default. Orientation controls page direction; it does not replace setting the four margins.

Set each margin independently
Use the corresponding option for each edge: --margin-top, --margin-bottom, --margin-left, and --margin-right. Supply a value with a unit, such as 15mm or 2cm. The usage manual documents a 10 mm default for left and right margins; its cited excerpt does not state defaults for top and bottom, so set all four explicitly when predictable whitespace matters.

wkhtmltopdf can combine page objects, covers, and a table of contents in output order. The manual distinguishes global options from per-object options, and states that options in the Global Options section must be placed in the global options area. For commands with multiple objects, consult the option classification and scope in the usage manual rather than assuming one geometry setting applies to every object.

The libwkhtmltox settings reference shows unit-bearing values, including centimetres for margins and centimetres or inches for dimensions.

Check the installed build when output differs
- Run
wkhtmltopdf --versionand inspect the local help output to confirm the binary version and accepted options. - If a less common named paper format is rejected or behaves unexpectedly, verify its availability in that installed build rather than assuming every package supports the same set.
- If a margin or page dimension is not applied as expected in a command containing several objects, check whether the setting is global or per-object and move it to the appropriate options area.
The project usage manual labels itself as wkhtmltopdf 0.12.6 with patched Qt. The documented syntax is useful for configuring that command-line interface, but it does not establish the behavior of every locally packaged binary.
