These are YouTube recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular connection will stay live. If you intend to stream somewhere other than YouTube, check that platform’s own ingest requirements.
Choose a profile your connection can sustain
For a continuous broadcast, prioritize stable delivery over maximum resolution. The settings below are Google/YouTube H.264 recommendations, with the same audio and encoder baseline for each profile. They are not measurements of JioFiber performance. Google’s current encoder guidance, accessed in 2026, also lists higher bitrates for 60 fps; use those targets only if both the streaming computer and the connection can hold them steadily. For many always-on setups, 720p30 is a sensible starting point if the upload connection or encoder is uncertain. A still illustration or slow-moving program may not need 60 fps; choose a frame rate that fits the material and that the computer can encode reliably. YouTube transcodes the incoming live stream into multiple formats for viewers, so the OBS input profile is not the only format viewers may receive.

OBS labels can vary slightly by version and operating system. In a typical current layout, open Settings and configure the stream, output, video, and audio sections. Use the selected YouTube profile above as your target.

- Connect OBS to YouTube: In Settings > Stream, choose YouTube as the service and connect your account or enter the stream key from YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it. If you regenerate it, update OBS before the next broadcast.
- Set the encoder and rate control: Open Settings > Output. In the Streaming section, select an available H.264 encoder, set rate control to CBR, and enter the chosen video bitrate. The available encoder options vary by computer; select one the machine can sustain and test it.
- Set the keyframe interval: In the same Streaming output section, set the keyframe interval to 2 seconds.
- Set canvas output and frame rate: In Settings > Video, set the output resolution and frame rate to the profile you chose, such as 1280 × 720 at 30 fps or 1920 × 1080 at 30 fps. Keep the output consistent with the bitrate target; do not select 60 fps simply because it is available.
- Set audio: In Settings > Output, set streaming audio to AAC, stereo, 128 Kbps where those controls are available. Check that the correct microphone or program audio source is selected and that it is not clipping or silent.
- Check YouTube’s encoder details: In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, make sure the resolution, frame rate, and bitrate information matches the OBS output you intend to send.
Measure JioFiber upload instead of relying on the plan name
Jio advertises symmetric upload and download speeds on its broadband plans. Its Mumbai broadband page lists example tiers of 30, 100, 150, and 300 Mbps; those are location- and plan-specific marketing examples, not evidence of your subscribed package or the speed available at your home. Check the Jio Mumbai broadband plan page and your own plan details rather than treating those figures as a personal speed guarantee.
- Run an upload speed test from the same room and network connection the OBS computer will use. If practical, test on the wired connection you plan to stream over.
- Repeat tests over time, including during the hours the stream is expected to run. A single speed test is only a snapshot; it does not establish that upload will remain stable for hours or days.
- Leave headroom for normal household use. Do not set OBS to the full advertised speed or a brief peak from a speed test. OBS notes that stable upload is important and recommends lowering video bitrate when troubleshooting connection problems; see OBS stream connection troubleshooting.
- If Wi-Fi appears to be the weak link, a compatible Ethernet connection between the computer and router is a practical option to test. It is not a fix for ISP-side instability, and it cannot guarantee a stable stream.
Jio’s postpaid FAQ says its unlimited home-use plan data may be discontinued in cases of misuse, fraudulent, unauthorized, or commercial use. If the children’s broadcast is monetized or otherwise commercial, check the terms that apply to your own plan with Jio; do not assume every JioFiber plan permits continuous commercial streaming. Test before relying on a 24/7 broadcast
Encoder settings cannot guarantee uninterrupted delivery. Before leaving a stream unattended, run a private or otherwise appropriate test using movement and audio representative of the actual program. Verify the incoming resolution and frame rate, listen for audio problems, check stream health, and watch for warnings. YouTube recommends testing before going live and monitoring stream health and messages during the broadcast; its guidance is at YouTube Help.
- Confirm the video source is playing as intended and that the stream key is current.
- Check for dropped frames, encoder overload, audio gaps, and network warnings during a sustained test, not only at startup.
- Test the schedule and restart process you plan to use. A successful short test does not prove the same setup will be reliable unattended over a full day.
Children’s content and platform rules are separate from OBS settings
Correct encoder values do not determine whether a broadcast is appropriate for children or compliant with YouTube’s live-stream and child-directed-content rules. Review the current requirements and audience settings in YouTube Studio for the specific content and format before launch. Copyright also matters: use material you have rights to stream, and do not treat a technically successful loop as permission to rebroadcast someone else’s content.

Troubleshoot common failures
