How to Set Bitcoin Price Alerts Without Watching the Market Constantly

Use Coinbase, Binance, or TradingView to get a notification when Bitcoin reaches a chosen price. Here’s how to set up each service and what its alerts can—and cannot—do.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Set a Bitcoin price alert in an exchange app or charting service, choose a price threshold and notification method, and let the service notify you when its selected price source meets that condition. An alert is only a notification: it does not buy or sell Bitcoin or place an order.

Choose an alert service that fits how you track Bitcoin

Price alerts can notify you when Bitcoin reaches a specified level, rises above it, or falls below it. Some services also offer percentage-change conditions. The quote used for the trigger depends on the service and, on an exchange, the trading pair. There is no single quote source that is universally authoritative, so use the same market or pair you normally consult when making a decision.

Service Price source and conditions Delivery and limits Best fit
Coinbase Bitcoin price in Coinbase; choose an above- or below-target alert. Coinbase says the asset must be on your watchlist. Push, in-app, or email notifications for custom alerts. The cited help page does not state an alert count or expiration period. Someone who already uses Coinbase and wants a straightforward threshold notification.
Binance A selected BTC trading pair; the support page lists reach, above, below, and percentage-change alert types. Phone app notifications. Binance Support documents a maximum of 10 alerts per pair and 50 total, with each alert valid for 90 days. Someone who wants alerts tied to a specific Binance market pair.
TradingView A selected Bitcoin symbol or chart, with a Price condition and configurable trigger frequency. App, popup, and email options; phone push needs the app and notification permission. Alert counts vary by plan. Someone who prefers setting alerts from a chart rather than an exchange market screen.

Service interfaces, availability, alert limits, and plan features can change. Review the linked official instructions if a label or option differs in your app.

Set a Bitcoin alert in Coinbase

  1. In the Coinbase mobile app, search for Bitcoin and add it to your watchlist.
  2. Open Bitcoin and tap the bell icon with a plus sign. Choose Add Alert.
  3. Choose whether the alert should trigger when the price goes above or below your target, enter the price, and save.
  4. To choose how you receive custom alerts, go to Account & Settings > Notification Settings and enable the push, in-app, or email options you want.

Coinbase says only assets on your watchlist send price alerts. Its help page also describes the alerts as informational: they “do not constitute investment advice or advice to buy or sell bitcoin.” They do not execute a trade. See Coinbase’s price-alert instructions.

#1 Best Overall
Bitkey Bitcoin Hardware Wallet, No Screen - Self-Custody, No Seed Phrase
  • BITCOIN EXCLUSIVE, PHONE VERIFICATION: Bitkey is designed from the ground up exclusively for bitcoin — a dedicated hardware wallet for secure bitcoin storage. Approve transactions with a tap using your phone and NFC. No device screen is required.
  • SELF-CUSTODY, NO EXCHANGE OR CUSTODIAN REQUIRED: You hold two of the three keys in the Bitkey system – one on your phone and one on your Bitkey device. The third is stored on Bitkey’s server and cannot move your bitcoin on its own.
  • NO SEED PHRASE: Set up and use Bitkey without creating or storing a seed phrase.
  • 2-of-3 MULTISIG: Three keys are stored separately across your phone, Bitkey device, and Bitkey’s server. Any two keys are required to move your bitcoin.
  • BUILT-IN RECOVERY: Encrypted backup and recovery tools can help you regain access if you lose your phone or Bitkey device. You can also designate a Recovery Contact.

Set a Bitcoin alert in Binance

  1. Switch the Binance app to Binance Pro, where Binance says price alerts are available.
  2. Open Markets and search for the BTC trading pair you want to monitor. For example, select the pair shown in your account rather than assuming every BTC market uses the same quote.
  3. Tap Alert, choose the alert type and threshold, set the frequency, then create the alert.
  4. Allow Binance notifications in your phone’s system settings so app alerts can reach you.

Binance Support’s price-alert guide lists limits of 10 alerts per trading pair and 50 total; each alert is valid for 90 days. Those are Binance service limits, not market rules, and may change. Binance Support describes the feature this way: “Price alerts help you stay on top of the market by notifying you when a certain price or condition is met.”

Set a Bitcoin alert in TradingView

  1. Open the Bitcoin symbol or chart you want to monitor and create an alert.
  2. Set the primary condition to Price, then choose the threshold and the relevant comparison operator.
  3. Choose whether the alert should trigger once or repeatedly, and set an expiration date where that option is available.
  4. Select the delivery method you want, such as app notification, desktop popup, or email. For phone notifications, install the TradingView mobile app and allow push notifications on your phone.

TradingView’s alert counts depend on the plan, so check your current plan rather than relying on a general number. Its official guides explain how to set up alerts, how price alerts work, and how to receive phone notifications.

Make the alert useful without creating notification noise

As a workflow suggestion, choose a small number of price levels tied to decisions you have already made—for instance, a level at which you plan to review your position. A long list of arbitrary thresholds can produce noise without making the notification more useful. Alerts do not predict price movements or improve returns by themselves.
