Set a Bitcoin (BTC) price threshold in an app or charting service you already use, choose how you want to be notified, and make sure the relevant app, device, or browser permissions are enabled. A price alert sends a notification; it does not automatically buy or sell Bitcoin.
Choose an alert service
Use the service where you already follow BTC, and consider whether you need a simple threshold or more control over when and how alerts fire. Coinbase supports custom alerts in its mobile app; Kraken Pro supports web and mobile market alerts; TradingView offers configurable price conditions and notification channels. The official setup pages were checked on October 7, 2026, and app labels and features can change.

Set an alert in Coinbase
- In the Coinbase mobile app, search for and select Bitcoin.
- Add Bitcoin to your watchlist using the star control. Coinbase requires an asset to be on your watchlist for price alerts.
- Tap the bell-plus control, choose Add Alert, choose whether the price should move above or below your target, and enter the target price.
- Save the alert.
- Open Account & Settings, then Notification Settings. Enable the desired push, in-app, or email options under Custom Alerts. Use Price Alerts for predetermined alerts.

On the web
- Open or add the Alerts widget in Kraken Pro.
- Allow browser notifications when prompted if you want alerts delivered that way.
- Create a new alert, select the market and trigger parameters, enter the price, and activate the alert.
In the mobile app
- Allow Kraken Pro push notifications in both your device’s operating-system settings and the app.
- Open the price-alert interface from the Markets page or from an available market or order shortcut, then configure and activate the alert.
You can view, edit, or delete alerts in the platform. Kraken’s help page, last updated January 20, 2026, says Futures alerts cannot currently be set in the app. Check the Kraken alert instructions if the interface differs.

Set an alert in TradingView
- Open the Bitcoin market symbol you want to follow and create an alert.
- Set the primary condition to Price, then choose the operator and target—for example, crossing above or below a price you choose.
- Choose whether the alert should trigger once or repeatedly, and set an expiry or other available timing behavior.
- Select the notification actions you want, such as an app notification, pop-up, email, webhook, or sound where available.
- Confirm the alert and check that your account plan permits another active alert if you have reached its limit.
App delivery requires the TradingView mobile app. Desktop pop-ups require browser notification permission. Open-ended alerts are not available for watchlist alerts. See TradingView’s price-alert guide and general alert setup instructions.
Check that notifications can reach you
Creating an alert and receiving its notification are separate steps. If you have configured a threshold but do not see alerts, check the delivery path you selected:

- Coinbase: confirm Bitcoin is on your watchlist and the relevant custom-alert channel is enabled in Notification Settings.
- Kraken Pro: confirm push permission in both the operating system and app, or browser permission for web notifications.
- TradingView: confirm the mobile app is installed for app delivery or browser permission is granted for desktop pop-ups; also check the selected delivery options and account alert limits.
Choose thresholds that reduce unnecessary checking
Pick a level that would genuinely prompt you to look at the market, and decide whether you want a notification when BTC moves above it, below it, or either direction using separate alerts. You can use more than one level if that helps you keep an eye on distinct price points. There is no universally right alert frequency: set only the thresholds that serve your purpose, then verify that the chosen notification channel works for you.
These tools report a price condition; they are not trading instructions. If you want to act on an alert, review the market and make a separate decision rather than assuming the notification itself will execute a trade.
