To get a notification when Bitcoin reaches a price you choose, select BTC or a BTC trading pair in your exchange app or website, set an above- or below-price condition, save the alert, and enable notifications on both the exchange and your device. A price alert only notifies you; it does not place a buy or sell order.
How Bitcoin price alerts work
An alert watches a selected asset or trading pair for a condition you set, such as BTC/USD rising above a target or BTC/USDT dropping below it. Choose the pair that matches the market you want to follow: Bitcoin prices can differ slightly across pairs and exchanges.

Alerts are separate from orders. Coinbase states that its price alerts notify users when an asset reaches a certain price and do not place an order for that asset. Coinbase’s price-alert help page explains its alert behavior and notification settings.

Set a Bitcoin price alert on Coinbase
- Search for and select the cryptocurrency in the Coinbase mobile app.
- Tap the star to add the asset to your watchlist. Coinbase says only assets on a watchlist send price alerts.
- Tap the bell-plus icon, then choose Add Alert.
- Choose whether the price should move above or below your target, enter the price, and save the alert.
- To choose delivery options, open Account & Settings and then Notification Settings. Review the settings for predetermined Price Alerts and Custom Alerts, and enable the available push, in-app, or email options you want.
If you cannot find a control, check Coinbase’s current help page or app interface; labels and availability can change.

Set an alert in Binance
In the Binance app
- Switch to Binance Pro, where Binance documents the app alert feature.
- Open Markets and search for the Bitcoin trading pair you want to monitor.
- Tap the alert icon, choose an alert type, enter the target and frequency, and create the alert.
- Allow Binance notifications in your phone’s settings so the app can deliver alerts.
On Binance desktop
- Open Alerts and select Create Alert.
- Choose the trading pair and alert settings, then create the alert.
- Enable desktop system notifications for Binance if you want alerts to appear as system notifications.
Binance’s alert conditions include a price reaching, rising above, or dropping to a specified level; percentage change; and 24-hour change. According to its English-language support article, updated January 6, 2026, the limit is 10 alerts per pair and 50 alerts total, and each alert is valid for 90 days. These are Binance-specific limits, not general exchange rules. See Binance’s price-alert instructions for current details.

Use the Alerts widget to create a market alert. Select the market, set the trigger parameters and price, and create the alert. You can edit or delete active alerts.

Kraken mobile
On the Markets page, use the bell, or long-tap an open order or market to open the alert flow. In the alert window, select the market and trigger parameters, enter the price, and create the alert. Enable Kraken Pro push notifications both in the app and in your device settings.
Kraken says Futures alerts cannot currently be created in the app. You can create a Futures alert on the web and still receive it on mobile if price-alert push notifications are enabled, although the notification may not open the correct market page. Kraken’s Market Alerts instructions were last updated January 20, 2026.

Make sure the alert can reach you
Saving an alert does not by itself guarantee that you will see a notification. Check both the exchange’s notification controls and the operating system’s permissions for the device or browser where you expect to receive it.
- Confirm the alert is active and attached to the intended BTC asset or trading pair.
- Enable the relevant alert type in the exchange’s notification settings.
- Allow notifications for the exchange app in your phone settings, or system notifications for the desktop app or browser.
- Check the exchange’s current help page for any alert limits, expiration rules, or interface changes.
Delivery may depend on app, device, and notification settings; an alert should not be treated as guaranteed immediate notice.

Alert versus automatic trade
A price alert is a notification, not an instruction to buy or sell. If you want an exchange to trade automatically at a condition, you need to place an appropriate order separately and understand its order type, execution conditions, and risks. Do not assume that creating an alert reserves funds or executes a trade when the target is reached.
