Which timer should you use?
| Option | Where you set it | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Podcasts Sleep Timer | In the episode’s playback controls | Sets a timer for listening in the Podcasts player; choose an option shown in the app. |
| Clock “Stop Playing” | Clock > Timers > When Timer Ends | Stops audio or video playback when the timer ends, including in another app. |
Sleep Timer is not Sleep Focus
The Podcasts Sleep Timer is a playback control that ends listening. Sleep Focus and sleep schedules in Health support bedtime routines and reducing interruptions; they are separate features and do not replace the Podcasts or Clock playback timer. Apple Support
Apple documents the Podcasts timer in its iOS 27 iPhone guide. Button placement and labels can change with software updates, and the consulted guide does not specify a minimum iOS version or a regional availability comparison.
