Build the job around the convert task
A typical job imports the HTML, converts it, and exports the PDF. CloudConvert’s Quickstart Guide describes this task pattern and notes that conversion parameters vary by input and output format. The following is schematic; replace the bracketed option and value only after checking the current HTML-to-PDF options for your selected engine.

Why website-capture settings are not a substitute
The capture-website operation accepts a website URL and can produce PDFs or screenshots. Its documented controls include margins and optional header/footer templates. Those settings belong to website capture; they do not prove which custom page-size option is accepted by the HTML-file convert operation. Choose the operation based on the source you actually have, then inspect that operation’s options.
Troubleshoot page-size problems
- The API rejects the parameter: confirm the option name and type in the current options for
convertwith HTML input and PDF output. A setting from website capture or a different format pair may not be valid. - The job succeeds but the page dimensions are wrong: check the documented units and value shape, and confirm whether width and height must be supplied together. Then inspect the produced PDF’s dimensions rather than relying only on a successful job status.
- You are starting from a website URL: decide whether you need to capture a live page or convert an HTML file. These are different operations, and their parameters are not interchangeable.
- An example you found uses a different engine or version: retrieve the options for the engine and version you plan to run; available parameters may differ.
