Save a screenshot with a custom filename
Pass the desired destination as path. This complete example captures the full page and saves it as homepage.png in a screenshots directory:

Choose a path and extension that match your needs
Include the filename and extension
Set the complete name you want, for example report.png. Puppeteer uses the extension to infer the image type, so use an extension appropriate for the format you intend to produce.
Understand relative paths
A relative path such as screenshots/homepage.png is resolved from the process’s current working directory—not necessarily the directory containing your script. If you run the script from different directories, the same relative path can point to different destinations. Choose a path based on how the script is launched, or construct a destination appropriate to your application.

Avoid overwriting captures
If a script takes repeated screenshots, reusing the same filename writes each capture to the same destination. To keep them all, generate a distinct name, such as one containing a page label or timestamp. That naming convention is up to your application; Puppeteer’s API provides the destination field but does not prescribe a naming scheme.
Use the returned image bytes when your app controls saving
If you omit path, Puppeteer does not save the image to disk. By default, page.screenshot() returns a Uint8Array containing the image bytes, which your application can write to a file or pass to another part of your program.

Use the same path option for an element screenshot
To capture a particular element rather than the whole page, call screenshot() on its element handle and pass the same path option:

Troubleshooting custom screenshot paths
The file is not where expected
Check the process’s current working directory if you used a relative path. The destination is resolved from that directory, which may differ from the script’s location.
The screenshot is not saved to disk
Make sure the call includes path. Without it, Puppeteer returns the image bytes instead of writing a file.

Check the filename extension: Puppeteer infers the screenshot type from it. Use an extension that matches the intended format.
A previous screenshot disappeared
Check whether repeated captures reuse the same destination. Generate a unique filename when you need to retain multiple captures.
