You can send an EPUB to a Kindle through Amazon’s Send to Kindle service, copy a non-DRM EPUB directly to a Kobo, or transfer a compatible file to a supported Xteink model using its app or USB mode. The right method depends on the reader, the model, and whether the book has DRM protection.
Choose the transfer method for your reader
| Reader | How the EPUB reaches it | EPUB support and DRM considerations | Model-specific note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kindle | Upload through Amazon’s Send to Kindle service using a route listed by Amazon, such as web, app, email, or desktop. | Amazon lists EPUB as a supported Send to Kindle file type. That means the service accepts EPUB for delivery; it does not establish that a Kindle reads the original EPUB file unchanged. | For USB transfers, Amazon says Kindle Scribe and Kindle devices released in 2024 require a separate application, such as Send to Kindle for Mac. Check the instructions for your exact model. |
| Kobo | Copy a non-protected EPUB from a computer using Kobo’s computer-transfer instructions. | Kobo lists EPUB, EPUB2, and EPUB3. Adobe DRM-protected books require Adobe Digital Editions. | Kobo Original and Kobo Wi Fi do not support EPUB3. |
| Xteink | On the X4 Pro, use the Xteink app and Cloud Sync, or connect to a computer and copy the file in USB Mode. | The X4 Pro FAQ lists EPUB support. Check the specific book and model guide for compatibility. | Xteink publishes separate guides for X4 Classic, X4 Pro, X3, and X4; do not assume another model uses the same steps. |
Send an EPUB to a Kindle
Use Amazon’s Send to Kindle help page to choose an available route: web, mobile app, email, or desktop application. Amazon lists EPUB among the file types accepted by the service.

- Open Amazon’s Send to Kindle help page and select the route you want to use.
- Upload or send the EPUB using the instructions for that route.
- Choose the destination Kindle or Kindle library if prompted, then allow the service to deliver the book.
This is a service-based EPUB delivery workflow, not proof that every Kindle can open an untouched EPUB copied onto it. If you intend to transfer by USB instead, check Amazon’s USB transfer instructions for your specific Kindle; the process differs for Kindle Scribe and 2024-released devices.
Copy a non-protected EPUB to a Kobo
Kobo lists EPUB, EPUB2, and EPUB3 as supported formats. For an EPUB without copy protection, use Kobo’s computer-transfer instructions to connect the reader and add the file.
#1 Best Overall
- Light and compact - With adjustable brightness, high contrast ratio, and fast page turns.
- Effortless reading in any light - Read comfortably with a 6“ glare-free display, adjustable front light—now 25% brighter at max setting—and dark mode.
- Escape into your books - Tune out messages, emails, and social media with a distraction-free reading experience.
- Read for a while - Get up to 6 weeks of battery life on a single charge.
- Take your library with you – 16 GB storage holds thousands of books.
- Confirm that the book is not protected by DRM.
- Connect the Kobo to your computer and follow Kobo’s instructions to add the EPUB.
- Eject or disconnect the reader as directed, then check its library for the book.
Do not assume a file can be copied over normally if it has Adobe DRM. Kobo says Adobe DRM-protected books require Adobe Digital Editions. There is also a model exception for older Kobo Original and Kobo Wi Fi readers, which do not support EPUB3.
Transfer an EPUB to an Xteink reader
Xteink’s X4 Pro product page and X4 Pro FAQ list EPUB support and describe two transfer routes. These steps apply to the documented X4 Pro workflow; consult the Xteink user-guide index for your model before following them on another device.

Use the Xteink app and Cloud Sync on X4 Pro
- Bind the reader to the Xteink app and connect it to Wi-Fi.
- In the app, select the device and choose Import.
- Choose a compatible book from your phone.
- On the reader, open the menu and choose Cloud Sync to receive the imported book.
Copy a file by USB on X4 Pro
- Connect the reader to your computer.
- Open the reader’s menu and choose USB Mode.
- When the reader appears on the computer, copy the compatible EPUB file to it.
If the book does not appear or open
- Kindle: Confirm you used Send to Kindle and that delivery completed. Amazon’s accepted EPUB file type refers to its service, not universal direct EPUB reading by every Kindle.
- Kobo: Check whether the EPUB has Adobe DRM. Kobo directs readers to Adobe Digital Editions for protected books; its standard computer-copy instructions are for non-protected files.
- Xteink: Verify that the file is compatible with your exact model and that you followed that model’s guide. On X4 Pro, app imports require Cloud Sync on the reader; USB copying requires USB Mode.
- Older Kobo: If the book is EPUB3, note that Kobo Original and Kobo Wi Fi do not support that format version.
The cited instructions establish supported formats and transfer procedures, not identical formatting across devices. A book’s appearance after delivery or copying is not guaranteed to match the source file exactly.
