Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsUse Restream’s Pre-recorded livestream → Playlist workflow: select or upload videos, arrange their order, optionally add a countdown or other playlist elements, then preview or schedule the broadcast. Restream says a scheduled playlist can run automatically while your laptop is unplugged. Before scheduling, confirm that your YouTube channel is eligible to livestream and check the current file limits shown in your Restream account.
Before you build the playlist
Make sure YouTube livestreaming is enabled
YouTube requires a verified channel with no livestreaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time livestream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before the time you want to broadcast. See YouTube’s livestreaming eligibility guidance.

Check files and account limits
Have the videos ready in your Restream library or available to upload. Restream’s older prerecorded-video guide says file-size limits depend on subscription level, but its 2022 limits should not be treated as current. Check the current Restream interface and your account for file size, duration, storage, and plan availability before preparing a large playlist.
Create and schedule a Restream playlist
- Open the playlist workflow. From the Restream home screen, choose Pre-recorded livestream, then Playlist. If you have made a playlist before, Restream’s help article says it may be selectable from the home screen.
- Add your videos. Choose videos already in your Restream library or upload new files.
- Set the playback order. Arrange the videos in the sequence you want viewers to see.
- Add more material or a countdown if needed. Use Add Video to add files or create a countdown.
- Customize the playlist. Add designs, captions, or QR codes if they suit the broadcast; these are optional.
- Preview or schedule. Preview the playlist, or choose when it should go live. Follow the event state and controls Restream shows for your account, and check that the corresponding YouTube event or watch page is set up as intended.
Restream’s current playlist help article describes the playlist as multiple videos combined into one live series and says a scheduled playlist can broadcast automatically, including when your laptop is unplugged. It does not establish that every account flow automatically creates or publishes a YouTube event, so verify the event details rather than assuming they are handled for you. See Restream’s playlist instructions.

Review the event details
Restream’s older prerecorded-event guide identifies details such as the title, description, date and time, thumbnail or cover, and destination platforms. Check the current setup screen for the fields available to you and make sure the YouTube destination and event details match your plan. Because that guide dates to 2022, use your account’s current limits and interface rather than relying on its old plan-specific allowances. See Restream’s prerecorded-video guide.
Restream playlist versus a YouTube encoder stream
These are separate ways to send content to YouTube Live. Restream’s playlist workflow schedules an ordered set of videos in Restream. An encoder workflow sends a feed to YouTube from an encoder and uses YouTube Live Control Room controls. Do not apply encoder-specific steps automatically to a hosted Restream playlist.

| Workflow | What you do | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Restream playlist | Prepare an ordered set of existing or uploaded videos in Restream, then preview or schedule the combined broadcast. | Scheduling and automatic playback; playlist customization; current account limits for uploads and sequence preparation. |
| YouTube encoder stream | Configure an encoder for a YouTube stream, start the feed, inspect its preview in Live Control Room, and use the available live controls. | Encoder configuration and operator involvement; appropriate when sending a live encoder feed rather than scheduling a prepared Restream playlist. |
YouTube’s encoder instructions say to start the encoder, check the preview in Live Control Room, and click Go live for an encoder-based scheduled broadcast. That instruction is specific to the encoder workflow, not a universal step for Restream playlists. YouTube describes a stream key as a credential that tells an encoder where to send its feed and allows YouTube to accept it; keep it private, and do not paste it into the Restream playlist flow unless Restream’s current instructions explicitly ask for it. See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance and YouTube’s stream settings guidance.
Common problems and what to check
- You cannot livestream from YouTube: verify the channel and check for a livestream restriction within the prior 90 days. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours for it to become available.
- A file will not upload or fit the playlist: check the current file-size, duration, and storage limits in your Restream account. Limits depend on subscription level; do not rely on an old free-plan allowance.
- The playlist is not in the intended order: return to the playlist editor and confirm the sequence before previewing or scheduling.
- The YouTube event does not look ready: verify the destination and event/watch-page details in the controls available in Restream and YouTube. Do not assume the playlist flow creates or publishes every event automatically.
- You are waiting for a YouTube “Go live” button: that instruction belongs to YouTube’s encoder-based workflow. For a Restream-hosted playlist, follow the event state and controls Restream presents.
- You are asked for a stream key: treat it as a sensitive credential. YouTube documents it for encoder delivery; use it in the playlist workflow only if Restream’s current instructions require it.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is an always-on YouTube stream from uploaded videos, StreamNeo is another option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the videos from the cloud, so no computer or home connection has to stay on. Each slot streams your upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for prerecorded videos streamed to YouTube, not a camera livestream. Visit StreamNeo, or start your free first day.
