To loop a Marathi devotional video on YouTube with FFmpeg, copy the RTMPS stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio, then run FFmpeg with -stream_loop -1 to repeat the file. The command below is an adaptable starting point—not a tested, one-size-fits-all configuration. Check YouTube’s preview and stream health, and confirm you have permission to broadcast both the video and its audio.
Before you start
- Install an FFmpeg build that includes the encoders used below, including
libx264and AAC encoding. Available encoders vary by build. - Have a local video file with the devotional picture and audio you intend to stream. Play it first to check that both work and that the file reaches the ending you expect before looping.
- Make sure your internet connection can sustain the selected upload bitrate, with additional headroom for network variation.
- Establish that you have permission to stream the specific video and recording. The fact that a song is devotional, traditional, or publicly available does not by itself establish rights to a particular recording, arrangement, or video.
- Confirm your channel can go live. Eligibility for a particular account is not established here; check YouTube Studio if the controls are unavailable.
Get the YouTube RTMPS address and stream key
- In YouTube Studio, choose Create → Go Live to open the Live Control Room.
- Create or select a stream and copy the stream URL and stream key shown for it. Use the RTMPS publishing URL provided for that stream.
- Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to your stream. Do not post it publicly. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and replace it in your FFmpeg command.
YouTube describes the stream key as the credential that identifies where the encoder should send its feed and allows YouTube to accept it. Keep the URL and key for the same stream together; do not substitute a URL or key from another event.

Choose resolution, bitrate, and frame rate
Use the quality your source can support and your upload connection can sustain. YouTube’s published H.264 recommendations include the following values; they are recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular file, encoder, or connection will work.

YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval (not over four seconds), and leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom. Measure the connection available to the streaming computer, not just a nominal plan speed; other devices and shared-network traffic can reduce upload capacity. If the connection cannot sustain the target reliably, lower the output bitrate or resolution and test again.

YouTube lists RTMP/RTMPS ingestion, H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1 video, AAC or MP3 audio, and frame rates up to 60 fps. The example below uses H.264 and AAC as a straightforward starting configuration. For an ordinary looping video, follow the RTMPS URL and settings shown in Live Control Room. HLS is a separate ingestion option for some codec or HDR workflows; YouTube says it has higher latency because it sends video in segments rather than as a continuous stream.
Run FFmpeg to loop the video
Replace devotional-video.mp4 with the path to your file and replace the sample destination with the full RTMPS publishing URL from YouTube, including your stream key in the format YouTube supplies.

It sets a 30 fps output and a 60-frame GOP, which corresponds to a two-second keyframe interval at that frame rate. The 4500 kbps video rate is only an illustrative setting; it is not a YouTube recommendation for every resolution. Adjust the rate, frame rate, and other options to match your source and chosen output. If the file has no audio, or its format is unsupported by your FFmpeg build, the command may need changes.
FFmpeg documents -stream_loop -1 as an infinite input loop and -re as reading at the input’s native frame rate for real-time output. These are input options, so they appear before -i. The command has not been tested against your particular FFmpeg build, file, stream key, or network; use it as a command structure to adapt, not as a guarantee of success.

Because the publishing destination contains the stream key, avoid putting the command in public scripts, screenshots, or posts. Shell history may also retain it. Use an environment or secret-management approach appropriate to your operating system if you need to reduce that exposure.
Start, preview, and stop the broadcast
- Run the command from a terminal on the computer holding the video. Watch FFmpeg’s output for connection errors or repeated encoding failures.
- Open the stream’s preview in Live Control Room. Check picture, audio, and the stream-health indicators before relying on it for viewers.
- Depending on the stream’s auto-start settings, the encoder connection may start the public broadcast automatically, or you may need to click Go live in Live Control Room.
- Run a short test with representative motion and audio before scheduling or promoting a longer devotional stream. When finished, stop FFmpeg. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived.
Troubleshoot common problems
- YouTube does not receive a signal: Check that the destination is the RTMPS URL and stream key for the selected Live Control Room stream. Look for accidental spaces, missing characters, or a key that was reset. Ensure the network permits the connection and that FFmpeg reports a successful connection.
- The stream connects but picture or sound is missing: Play the source locally, confirm it contains the expected streams, and inspect FFmpeg’s input and encoding messages. Your file’s codecs or audio layout may require a different FFmpeg configuration.
- Live Control Room reports poor stream health or the stream drops: Compare the configured bitrate with sustained upload capacity and leave YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. Reduce the bitrate or resolution if needed, and check whether other devices are using the connection.
- The picture stutters or motion looks wrong: Check the source frame rate and the output setting, then test with representative footage. The example forces 30 fps; adapt it if that does not suit the source or target.
- The video does not repeat: Verify that
-stream_loop -1comes before-iand that the intended input file is being read. Review FFmpeg’s output for file errors. - The key may have been exposed: Reset it in Live Control Room, update the destination in FFmpeg, and reconnect. Do not continue using a compromised key.
- FFmpeg rejects an option or encoder: FFmpeg builds differ. Check that your build supports the named encoder and options; install or use a build with the required support, or adapt the command to available encoders.
