To check your Uber account, review trips in Your Trips, inspect receipts and account changes, then reset your password and enable two-step verification if anything looks unfamiliar. Report a suspicious trip through that trip’s Help section; use Uber’s account-recovery flow if you can’t sign in.
Review recent trips and receipts
- Open the Uber app menu and select Your Trips. Menu wording can vary by app version or region.
- Select a trip to review its details and receipt. Check the date, route, and other trip information against your own activity.
- If a trip looks suspicious, open its Help section and choose the relevant issue to submit trip-specific feedback. Uber says rider support operates 24/7 and aims to reply within 24 hours; that is a stated goal, not a guaranteed response time. See Uber’s guidance for a potentially hacked account.
Look for signs someone else used your account
Uber identifies these as possible warning signs:
- A trip request or completed trip you did not make, or a receipt you do not recognize.
- A driver calls or texts about a pickup you did not arrange.
- Your password, email, account details, or payment profile changed without your permission.
- You receive a notice that account information changed when you did not make the change.
Review the trip and account details rather than assuming that one unfamiliar notice proves the account was compromised. If you find an unauthorized change or activity, secure access and report it.

Reset your password and strengthen sign-in
Choose a unique password
If you can sign in, follow Uber’s Help flow to reset your password. Choose a strong password you do not use for any other service. Uber also suggests that a password manager can help create, store, and update unique passwords; using one is optional. Read Uber’s account-safety guidance.
Enable two-step verification
- Open Uber account management and select Security.
- Select 2-step verification and follow the prompts to choose a verification method.
- Save the backup codes somewhere safe. Each code can be used once.
Uber describes SMS codes and codes from a security app. SMS depends on access to your registered phone and reception, which may be a problem while traveling. A security app generates codes offline. Backup codes provide a one-time fallback. Uber says that, with the feature enabled, you will face two security challenges each time you sign in. See Uber’s two-step verification instructions.

Check an unfamiliar Uber charge
First compare the charge with your Uber order history. Consider whether someone with access to your payment information or a linked account made the purchase. An unfamiliar card entry may also be a pending authorization hold; some holds are voided within a few business days, depending on the bank. Not every unexplained charge is a hold.
If the charge is not explained by your order history or remains unrecognized, use Uber’s unrecognized-charge support route. For a suspicious trip that appears in your activity, report it from that trip’s Help section.

What to do if you can’t sign in
Use Uber’s account-recovery or hacked-account Help flow if you cannot access the account. Provide the requested information through Uber’s official support process; recovery is not guaranteed. Avoid anyone who contacts you unexpectedly and asks for your password or sign-in code.

Uber warns about unexpected calls or messages posing as support, credit offers that request personal information, and links to fake login pages. Do not share your password, login codes, or Social Security number over email, text, or phone. Before entering an Uber password on a website, check that the site is on uber.com. If a message asks you to sign in through a link, go to the Uber app or type the official web address yourself instead.
