Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallCrashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteSecure the email account tied to your exchange, use unique passwords and phishing-resistant sign-in where available, add withdrawal safeguards, and know how to respond to suspicious access. Work through this checklist in order: the protections depend on the exchange, so confirm the current options in its official settings and help center.
1. Secure the email account linked to your exchange
Your inbox may receive account alerts and password-reset or recovery messages. If someone can take over that email account, exchange protections that rely on it may be easier to bypass.

- Use a unique password for the email account, stored in a password manager.
- Enable the strongest sign-in method your email provider supports, and secure the account’s recovery options as carefully as its main sign-in.
- Review active sessions and recovery details; remove anything you do not recognize or control.
Both Kraken’s security guidance and Coinbase’s account-security guidance emphasize protecting the email account associated with an exchange.

Generate a password that you do not use anywhere else, then store it in a reputable password manager rather than reusing a familiar password or keeping it in an unprotected note. Password rules differ by platform: Kraken’s current security page recommends at least 15 characters, while Coinbase publishes its own requirements. Treat those as platform-specific guidance, not a universal minimum.

- TRUSTED PASSKEY TECHNOLOGY: Uses the latest passkey standards (FIDO2/WebAuthn & FIDO U2F) but does not support One-Time Passwords. For complex needs, check out the YubiKey 5 Series.
- BUILT TO LAST: Made from tough, waterproof, and crush-resistant materials. Manufactured in Sweden and programmed in the USA with the highest security standards.
Do not share the password with anyone claiming to be support. An exchange employee should not need your password to investigate an account issue.
3. Choose the strongest sign-in method your exchange supports
Use a phishing-resistant method such as a passkey or physical security key if the exchange supports it for the sign-in and sensitive actions you need. A passkey or key can make it harder for a fake sign-in page to capture a reusable code or password, but availability and recovery rules vary by exchange, device, and account.

| Method | What to weigh | Practical choice |
|---|---|---|
| Passkey or security key | Recommended by Coinbase and Kraken; Kraken describes passkeys as phishing-resistant. Device support and account-recovery behavior vary. | Prefer this where the exchange supports it for your account. Keep a secure recovery option and, for a physical key, consider whether you need a separately stored backup. |
| Authenticator app | Available in some exchange sign-in flows. Backup material and any code-sync feature create recovery and account-security considerations. | Store setup or recovery material offline in a protected place. Consider the risks of synced codes and check the exchange’s recovery process. |
| SMS code | Kraken’s guidance treats SMS as a weaker fallback than passkeys or stronger methods. | Use a stronger supported option where possible; do not treat SMS as equivalent to a phishing-resistant key. |
These are not guaranteed options on every exchange or for every action. Check the exchange’s official security settings and recovery instructions before changing methods. Coinbase recommends security keys or passkeys for 2-step verification; Kraken recommends passkeys, and Binance lists passkeys and security keys among its account-security options. See Coinbase, Kraken, and Binance Academy.

4. Protect withdrawal addresses and account changes
If your exchange offers a withdrawal-address allowlist (sometimes called a whitelist), enable it and approve only addresses you control and have checked carefully. Find out how the platform handles newly added addresses, whether there is a waiting period, and which authentication method is required to add or change one.

Controls differ in important ways. Coinbase says new addresses added while allowlisting is enabled are subject to a 48-hour hold; its help page also describes an initial period after enabling the feature that can affect setup. Check the current instructions before relying on the feature or planning a withdrawal: Coinbase’s allowlisting guide.
Do not assume withdrawal-specific two-factor authentication prevents an attacker from adding an address. Kraken explicitly warns that funding 2FA does not stop a user or attacker from adding a withdrawal address. Read the platform’s explanation of what each control covers: Kraken’s funding 2FA guide. Binance also describes account-security options in its security checklist.

5. Avoid phishing and fake support
Open the exchange through a bookmark you created from its official site or its official app. Be wary of search ads, unsolicited messages, lookalike domains, and anyone who pressures you to act urgently. Never share a password or verification code, install remote-access software at a stranger’s request, or move crypto to an address supplied by someone claiming to help.
Coinbase says its staff will not ask for passwords, 2-step verification codes, remote access to your computer, or a transfer to a specific address. Its help page states: “Coinbase staff will never ask you to send cryptocurrency to external addresses.” Read its phishing guidance. Kraken likewise advises users to guard account credentials and avoid suspicious requests in its security guidance.

6. Monitor account access and respond quickly
Keep security alerts enabled and periodically review active sessions, connected devices, and account activity. Revoke sessions or access you do not recognize.
