How do I search open tabs in Chrome?
- Select Tab Search in the tab strip.
- Type a word or phrase associated with the site or page.
- Select the matching result to switch to that tab. You can also close a tab from the results list.
On Windows or Linux, press Ctrl+Shift+A; on Mac, press Command+Shift+A. Alternatively, type @tabs in Chrome’s address bar, press Tab or Space (or choose Search tabs from the suggestions), enter a keyword, and select a result. Google says Tab Search is on by default and pinned in the tab strip by default; to unpin it, use the tab strip’s context menu. These steps are for Chrome on computers, not mobile. Google Chrome Help.

How do I search open tabs in Firefox?
- Select List all tabs at the end of the tab strip. If you have Vertical Tabs enabled, find the button in the toolbar.
- Choose Search tabs in the tab overview menu and enter your search.
- Select the matching tab to open it.
You can also use the address bar: type % before or after your search term to filter results to open tabs. Keep the percent character in the query. Mozilla Support.
How do I search tabs in Edge?
- Open the Search tabs menu.
- Type a keyword and select the tab you want. The results include tabs in open Edge windows.
- To return to a recently closed page, look in the menu’s Recently Closed section.
Microsoft says the feature supports vertical tabs. It also keeps browsing modes separate: an InPrivate search shows tabs from that InPrivate session, not regular windows, and regular-mode searches do not show InPrivate tabs. Microsoft’s page says Tab search is not currently available on mobile and that availability or functionality can vary by device type, market, and browser version. How do I find a tab in Safari on Mac?
Safari’s documented route is a visual overview, rather than a text-filtered search of open tabs:
- Press Shift-Command-backslash to show the tab overview.
- Visually scan the open tabs and select the page you want.
For a more organized set of related pages, use Tab Groups. To reopen a tab you closed, choose History > Recently Closed. These steps describe Safari for Mac; Apple’s reviewed instructions do not establish a keyword-search box across open tabs. Tab overview, Tab Groups, and Recently closed tabs.

Can I search tabs across windows?
Edge’s Search tabs menu is documented as searching across open Edge windows. The cited Chrome, Firefox, and Apple Safari instructions do not specify the same cross-window scope, so do not assume that behavior is identical across browsers. In Edge, results remain limited by browsing mode: regular and InPrivate tabs are separate.
