Press the Galaxy A02’s Power key and Volume down key together. Start with a brief press; if that does not capture the screen, try holding both until the display flashes. Find the image in Gallery > Albums > Screenshots.
Take a screenshot with the buttons
- Open the screen you want to capture.
- Press the Power key and Volume down key at the same time. Try a brief press first. If no screenshot appears, hold both keys until the screen flashes.
- Open Gallery, tap Albums, then tap Screenshots to view the saved image.
Samsung describes this as the most common screenshot method for Galaxy phones and tablets, while noting that the exact interaction can vary by device and software. See Samsung’s screenshot instructions.

Use palm swipe if your A02 supports it
Some Samsung devices offer a hand-gesture alternative. On the phone, check Settings > Advanced features > Motions and gestures > Palm swipe to capture. If the option is present, turn it on and swipe the edge of your hand across the screen to capture it. Samsung says gesture availability varies by device, so the setting may not appear on every Galaxy A02 variant or software version. Samsung’s guide explains the feature.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIf the screenshot does not work
- The power menu opens: Try pressing both keys briefly and simultaneously rather than holding them. A long press may open the power menu on some devices.
- The gesture setting is missing: Use the button method. Palm swipe is optional and is not available on every device or software version.
- An app blocks the capture: Some apps and screens intentionally prevent screenshots to protect information. Samsung gives banking apps as an example; the phone may display a message that a security measure prevented capture.
- You are looking for another capture option: Android’s general guidance also describes Power plus Volume down, and says holding Power may reveal a Screenshot option on some Android devices. That platform guidance does not guarantee the option is available on a Galaxy A02. See Google’s Android screenshot instructions.
Samsung’s Galaxy A02 support page lists manuals for the SM-A022F family, including an Android 12 manual. The exact settings and gestures can depend on the particular device and software.
