Use Playwright’s page.screenshot({ fullPage: true }) to save a tender page as a full-page image. The code below shows the basic Node.js workflow, how to choose practical capture settings, and what to do if an Indian government portal presents a CAPTCHA or other access challenge.
Capture a tender page with Playwright
Install Playwright, launch Chromium, navigate to the actual tender URL, and save the page. Replace the example URL with the official portal and tender page you need to record.

It does not establish that any particular tender portal will load successfully or that the page is complete after that event. Inspect the resulting image and adjust the wait strategy if the portal loads its tender details later. Playwright documents browser setup, navigation, and screenshot options in its Page API.
Choose page coverage, resolution, and format
Viewport or full page
By default, a screenshot covers the currently visible viewport. Set fullPage: true to capture the full scrollable page in one image:

The scale option controls output dimensions. css creates one image pixel per CSS pixel and usually keeps files more compact; device captures at the device pixel ratio and can preserve more detail in a larger image. Choose consistently if you are comparing captures.

PNG is the default and is suitable for text-heavy records. Playwright can also output JPEG or WebP by using the corresponding file type, for example type: 'jpeg' or type: 'webp'. JPEG supports a quality setting; quality applies to JPEG, not PNG. Use a supported extension that matches the chosen type.

Handle CAPTCHA and access challenges appropriately
Some official tender pages require a CAPTCHA before showing search results. The Government of India eProcurement advanced search page examined for this guide asks users to provide a CAPTCHA to list active tenders; the central tender-search page also presents one. These observations are specific to those interfaces, not a rule for every state, department, or other government portal. The official eProcurement login page examined displays a notice to enable JavaScript for further processing.
If a CAPTCHA or other access challenge appears, pause for legitimate user interaction rather than trying to solve or bypass it automatically. Do not treat an automated capture as proof that a protected page was accessed or that its contents were retrieved.

The CPPP disclaimer says the service is provided by the Department of Expenditure in association with NIC, while the respective departments own, publish, and maintain tender documents and are responsible for their accuracy, authenticity, and validity. A screenshot is a visual record, not independent verification that a tender is current or authoritative. Preserve the tender URL and capture time, and confirm important details against the original tender notification or with the publishing department.

Make repeated captures comparable and traceable
Browser rendering can change across operating systems, browser versions, settings, hardware, power conditions, and headless mode, as Playwright notes in its visual comparisons documentation. For recurring captures or visual comparisons, keep the environment and settings consistent: use the same Playwright and browser versions, operating system, viewport, device scale, and screenshot options.
Keep a small record alongside each image so another person can identify what it shows and how it was produced:
- The exact tender page URL.
- The capture timestamp in UTC.
- The Node.js, Playwright, and browser versions.
- Whether the image covers the viewport or the full page, plus the viewport and scale settings.
These details improve reproducibility; they do not establish the legal status or current validity of the tender notice.
Troubleshoot common capture problems
The output shows a CAPTCHA, login screen, or challenge
The portal may require an interactive step or access authorization. Stop automation at the challenge and follow the portal’s legitimate user flow. Do not attempt to defeat access controls; capture only material you are authorized to view.

The image is blank or missing tender details
Navigation completion does not guarantee that every page element has rendered. Inspect the page and wait for a relevant element or a short, deliberate delay when the portal loads content after navigation. If the details are behind a challenge or require a user action, handle that through the portal rather than trying to bypass it.

The page is cut off
Confirm that fullPage: true is set. If you only need a specific region, use Playwright’s screenshot clipping options; otherwise, the default capture is limited to the viewport.
Images differ between runs or machines
Check for changes in browser version, operating system, viewport, scale, headless mode, and other rendering settings. Keep these fixed for comparisons, and record them with the capture.
The script times out or the portal does not load
Government portals can behave differently from ordinary sites, and a timeout does not identify the cause by itself. Check the URL and network access, inspect whether the portal displays an access challenge, and set a timeout appropriate for the site. Avoid repeatedly retrying in a way that conflicts with the portal’s terms or access controls.
