A screenshot is not a price-history chart and does not prove that a buyer paid or received an item. Product Research can search sales data across the last three years, while ordinary sold/completed search covers sold listings from the previous 90 days.
Screenshot an eBay listing and preserve its context
Include enough of the listing to identify what you are recording: title, item condition and variant, displayed price, shipping, seller or listing details, and whether it is active or ended. If those details do not fit on one screen, take multiple screenshots rather than cropping away useful context.

On an iPhone
- Open the listing and position the page so the relevant details are visible.
- On an iPhone with Face ID, press and quickly release the Side button and Volume Up button together. On iPhone models with a Home button, use the model-appropriate Side or Top button with Home.
- Review the capture, then crop or mark it up if useful. Keep the original capture and annotate a copy if you want to add notes.
- Find saved screenshots in Photos under Collections > Media Types > Screenshots. The thumbnail and editing interface can differ by iOS version; see Apple’s screenshot instructions.
On a computer or another phone
Use the device’s built-in screenshot feature or browser capture method, making sure the listing details remain readable. Interfaces differ by operating system and browser, so avoid assuming one universal key combination. A full-page capture can help with a long listing, but retain the visible price, shipping, condition, and listing status in the image or in a companion note.
Make a useful record
Save each image with a consistent filename, or maintain a log alongside it. Record the capture date, item title, item ID or URL in your own notes, condition and variant, displayed price, shipping, and whether the listing was active or ended. This is a personal recordkeeping workflow, not an eBay export. A screenshot documents presentation at capture time; it cannot establish the final accepted offer, payment, or fulfillment.

Find actual eBay sold prices
Use Product Research for a longer history
eBay’s Product Research can search sales data across the last three years. It includes actual sale prices when a seller accepted a Best Offer, so it can be more informative than an original asking price that remained displayed on a listing. See eBay’s Product Research help page.
In Seller Hub, eBay describes the route as Selling > Product Research. Product Research is also available through the eBay app, but mobile navigation and account access details can change. eBay’s Seller Center says mobile access requires at least one active listing or a listing sold within the previous 90 days; check the current app interface and eligibility if you do not see the feature. Construct a specific query, then narrow it using the available identifiers and parameters—for example, product identifiers, marketplace, category, condition, and date range. Compare like with like: the same model or variant, similar condition, sale date and marketplace, auction or fixed-price format, actual accepted offer rather than asking price, and item price plus shipping. Review how many sales and sellers underpin any summary; an average drawn from a small or mismatched set may not describe the item you have.

Use ordinary sold/completed search for a quick check
When you only need recent comparisons, search eBay and apply the sold/completed filters. This ordinary route shows sold listings from the previous 90 days, not the longer Product Research window. Treat the displayed sold price and shipping together when comparing, and check for condition or variant differences before drawing a conclusion.

Track changes instead of relying on a single capture
Product Research is the better place to look for historical sold-price trends. Screenshots are useful for preserving a particular listing’s visible details, while a separate log makes your own observations comparable over time. For each entry, save the capture date and listing URL or item ID, then note condition, variant, listed or sold status, price, shipping, and—for sold comparisons—the sale date and format where available.
Use eBay alerts for new activity
- Saved searches: use these to receive alerts when newly listed items match your search. They help find new listings; they do not provide a maintained historical price chart.
- Watchlist: use it to follow active and ended listings and, where offered, get an alert that an item is ending soon. eBay says an ended item that is not relisted within 60 days is removed from the Watchlist, so it is not permanent recordkeeping.
For details, see eBay’s pages on Your Watchlist and Using My eBay. Neither feature replaces a saved log when you need to compare prices across a longer period or retain records of listings that disappear.

Common problems and what to check
- Product Research is missing in the app: check the current app navigation and whether the account meets eBay’s stated mobile access condition—an active listing or a listing sold within the previous 90 days. The Seller Hub route is Selling > Product Research.
- Sold results seem too high: check whether you are looking at asking prices rather than actual accepted Best Offer prices, and compare shipping separately from the item price.
- Results do not match your item: refine the query for the exact model, variant, condition, marketplace, category, and date range. Broad keyword matches can combine unlike items.
- A watched ended listing disappeared: eBay says ended items not relisted within 60 days are removed from Watchlist. Keep your own URL, item ID, screenshot, and log entry when retention matters.
- A screenshot lacks key details: capture additional screens or use a full-page method where appropriate; include the item’s identifying details and shipping context rather than relying on a cropped price alone.
- A screenshot appears to show a sale: it shows the listing presentation at that time, not proof of final payment or delivery. Use Product Research’s actual-price data where accessible for sold-price comparisons.
