Click the page’s own “Continue reading” control if it is available to you, wait until the text appears, then take a screenshot. If the text runs below the screen, use a full-page capture where your browser supports it. A screenshot records what the page displays; it cannot reveal subscription-only text the page has not made available to you.
Capture the text after it appears
- Open the page and use its own control. Click “Continue reading” (or the page’s equivalent) if it is available to you.
- Wait for the content to load. Make sure the passage is visible and any loading has finished before capturing.
- Capture the screen. Use your browser’s screenshot feature or your device’s screenshot control to capture the visible area.
- Include text below the fold if needed. Choose a full-page capture if your browser offers one; otherwise, capture the relevant sections separately.
- Check the saved image. Confirm that the desired text is present and legible.
There is no single shortcut or menu path that applies to every browser and device. For instance, Microsoft says Edge can capture a full page or a selected area and save or copy the result, but availability and functionality may vary by device, market, and browser version. See Microsoft Edge’s Screenshot feature for its current details.
Choose visible-area or full-page capture
| Capture type | What it includes | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| Visible-area screenshot | The page area currently shown on screen | The revealed passage fits in the viewport |
| Full-page screenshot | The page’s scrollable content, where supported | The passage continues below the viewport |
Playwright, a browser automation framework, documents viewport, element, and full-scrollable-page screenshot modes; its documentation describes the choices as: “Capture the viewport, a specific element, or the full scrollable page.” See Playwright’s screenshot documentation. Whether a browser’s built-in capture works on a particular page can vary.
What a screenshot can—and cannot—capture
A screenshot records the content displayed in the browser. Google’s documentation distinguishes paywalled content supplied to a browser from content withheld when a page is served. If the text remains unavailable to you, taking a screenshot does not make it visible or grant access to it; use the site’s legitimate access options. See Google Search Central’s paywalled-content guidance.

Reading mode is not a substitute for access
Reading mode changes how supported pages are presented; it is not a screenshot method and is not a way to unlock restricted text. Chrome Help says Reading mode is not available on all sites and may not work as expected on some page types, including payment pages and login screens. See Chrome Help on Reading mode and Microsoft Edge’s Reading mode support.
