You can collect Google Jobs results with Python by querying a documented third-party structured-results API, then parsing its JSON response. Google’s JobPosting documentation is for publishers adding structured data to their own job pages; it does not specify an API for extracting Google’s aggregated job results. Fields vary by API endpoint, query, region and listing, so treat salary and application links as optional. Before automating access, review Google’s current terms and the rules that apply to your intended use.
How do I scrape Google Jobs with Python?
For a maintainable script, use a documented third-party API rather than assuming Google offers a public extraction API. The provider handles the search-results collection and returns structured data that Python can parse. SerpApi and ScraperAPI both document services for Google Jobs results; their schemas and capabilities may differ, so check the current documentation for the specific service and endpoint you choose.

The example below follows SerpApi’s documented Python client pattern. It is an illustrative skeleton, not a tested script: confirm the package’s current interface and the endpoint’s current response schema before using it. Keep your API key outside the source code, for example in an environment variable named SERPAPI_KEY.

extensions = job.get("detected_extensions") or {}

print("Company:", job.get("company_name"))
print("Location:", job.get("location"))
print("Salary:", extensions.get("salary"))
print("Related links:", job.get("related_links") or [])
print()
The example requests one role and location, with language and country settings. SerpApi’s documented results can include fields such as title, company_name, location, via, description, detected_extensions and related_links. Not every result contains every field. Using .get() and checking nested values prevents a missing optional field from stopping the whole run.

Choose the endpoint for the data you need
Do not treat a provider’s separate listing-detail endpoint as interchangeable with its main Google Jobs API. SerpApi documents that its Google Jobs Listing endpoint no longer returns apply_options, while its main Google Jobs API does. Even on the endpoint that supports them, links can be absent or change. Check the current endpoint documentation and handle empty values rather than assuming every result has an application link.
Keep searches and records traceable
- Use query, location, language and country inputs that match the market you intend to study.
- Keep the listing’s original fields and source information where available, rather than retaining only a formatted summary.
- Inspect actual responses for the endpoint and query you plan to use before depending on any field.
- Review the provider’s current rate limits, availability, costs, cache behavior and terms. Those details can affect whether a scheduled collection suits your use case.
How can I get salary and apply links from Google Jobs?
Salary is optional, not a guaranteed result
Some listings expose salary information in a field such as detected_extensions.salary; others do not. SerpApi describes salary details as present when they are available. Preserve the displayed salary text and its pay period as returned. Do not silently convert currencies or turn an hourly amount into an annual estimate unless the source provides the information needed to do so. A missing salary field means the result did not provide one through that response, not that the job has no salary.

Application links depend on the endpoint and listing
SerpApi’s documentation distinguishes the main Google Jobs API from its Google Jobs Listing endpoint: apply_options is available in the former and no longer returned by the latter. Results may also include related links, but do not assume those links are direct application URLs or that an application option will be present. When there is no usable apply link, retain the listing’s source or other available reference so a person can locate the posting, and label the link accurately.
Job postings and their links can change or expire. Store where each record came from and when you collected it, and validate links before presenting them as current opportunities.
How do I get daily alerts for new Google Jobs listings?
A daily alert is a repeat-search and change-detection workflow: run the same query on a schedule, compare the returned listings with records from earlier runs, then send only newly observed matches to your chosen channel. This is an implementation pattern, not a guarantee of real-time coverage or a vendor-provided alert feature.
- Define the search. Save the query, location and language or country settings you want to repeat.
- Run it once per day. Use a scheduler in your own environment, such as cron or a hosting platform’s scheduled-job feature. Store the API key as a secret or environment variable rather than in the scheduled command or script.
- Identify listings. Prefer a stable job identifier if the response supplies one. Otherwise, create a deduplication key from a normalized listing URL together with employer, title and location.
- Persist what you have seen. Save the identifier or key after processing each result so the next run can compare against it.
- Notify on new matches. Send records not previously seen to email, a messaging service or another channel you control. Include the title, employer, location, salary when supplied, and a clearly identified source or apply link when available.
Expect imperfect matching: listings can be reposted, expire, or appear with changing links or details. A URL-only key may therefore miss duplicates, while a title-and-employer key may merge distinct openings. Choose and document a rule that fits your use, and retain enough source data to review suspected duplicates. API caching can also affect what a run sees; check the provider’s current cache documentation rather than assuming each query reflects an immediate change.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What Google’s official job guidance does—and does not—cover
Google Search Central’s JobPosting structured-data guidance is for publishers marking up an individual job page so it may be eligible to appear in Google’s job-search experience. It recommends applying the markup to the most specific page describing one job, rather than a search-results or list page, and emphasizes accurate job content and accessible application information.
That guidance is not an extraction API specification and does not itself grant permission to automate collection of Google Jobs results. Keep the distinction clear: a provider’s structured-results API is a third-party service, not a Google-operated public API.

Terms, access controls and responsible use
Review Google’s current Terms of Service and any access controls that apply before automating searches. In a complaint filed in December 2025, Google alleged that automated scraping of Search results violated its terms and machine-readable instructions. That is Google’s position in litigation, not a judicial determination. The legal rules that apply can depend on where you are, how you collect and use the data, and other facts; this article does not resolve those jurisdiction-specific questions.
Also review the selected API provider’s terms and limits. Avoid treating a third-party endpoint as a way around obligations that apply to your use. If the collection is for research or job alerts, limit it to the queries and fields you need, and handle personal or sensitive information appropriately.
Quick Recap
Before relying on a job-results workflow
- Confirm the endpoint currently returns the fields your use requires, especially salary and apply options.
- Test the exact query and geography; coverage and field availability can vary.
- Check documented caching, rate limits, availability, cost and terms for the chosen service.
- Preserve salary as displayed and distinguish a source listing from an application destination.
- Deduplicate repeat results, account for reposts and expired listings, and avoid promising real-time alerts.
- Review Google’s current terms and applicable rules before automating access.
