How to Schedule Website Screenshots with Make and a Screenshot API

Configure a Make schedule, call a screenshot API, and route the returned image—while accounting for authentication, response handling, rate limits, and failures.

To schedule website screenshots with Make, create a scenario with a recurring schedule, call a screenshot API using Make’s HTTP app (or a supported native integration), then handle the returned image and send it to a destination such as cloud storage or a team app. The exact request and file-handling steps depend on whether your chosen API returns an image directly, a job to poll, or a download URL.

Choose a schedule that fits the job

Make supports schedules for regular intervals, one-time runs, daily, weekdays, weekly, monthly, specified dates, and on-demand execution. For an interval, enter a number of minutes; the minimum interval available depends on your Make plan. To configure it, open the schedule control on the scenario-builder toolbar and set the schedule. Make also documents start and end dates in advanced settings. Make’s scheduling guide describes the available options.

Pick a cadence based on how often the page needs checking and the screenshot API’s usage limits. Confirm the minimum interval in your account rather than assuming a particular plan supports a desired frequency. Daily schedules can include multiple run times.

Make documents a default maximum of 100 runs per minute for instant triggers and explains that runs may be queued after a configured maximum is reached. That guidance is specific to instant triggers, not the minimum interval for periodic schedules. Make also says a webhook caller can receive HTTP 429 if a webhook response module exceeds its rate limit; the caller must wait and retry. See Make’s scheduling and rate-limit notes.

Build the scenario around the API’s response

A practical scenario has four stages: scheduled trigger, screenshot request, image handling, and delivery. Make’s HTTP app can call services without a native Make integration, and includes modules such as “Make a request,” “Download a file,” and “Resolve URL.” The provider’s current API documentation—not Make’s general HTTP guide—defines the endpoint, authentication, parameters, and response format. Make HTTP app documentation.

  1. Set the schedule. In the scenario builder, open the schedule control on the toolbar and configure the interval or calendar schedule. Check that the minimum interval matches your plan.
  2. Add an API request or native screenshot module. Use the screenshot provider’s documented endpoint and capture options. In Make’s HTTP app, select authentication to match the provider’s requirements. Make instructs users to put authentication details in the dedicated Credentials field rather than in headers or query parameters.
  3. Inspect how the API returns the result. If it returns image bytes, map that response to the next module. If it returns a job identifier, add the provider-documented polling step. If it returns a downloadable URL, use an appropriate download step. These flows are alternatives, not interchangeable assumptions.
  4. Send the image somewhere useful. Add a destination module for storage, email, or a team application, and map the image content or downloaded file into it.
  5. Decide how failures should be handled. Make’s HTTP app can be configured to return an error for 4xx or 5xx responses. Review incomplete executions and set retries according to the provider’s limits and error guidance; do not assume retries happen unless configured.

This is a general workflow, not a tested, vendor-specific blueprint. Before building it, verify the selected API’s authentication method, output type, asynchronous behavior, usage limits, retention, and error guidance.

Choose between a native Make app and HTTP

A native app can reduce manual request setup when it provides the controls and output your workflow needs. A generic HTTP request is useful when the screenshot provider lacks a Make module or when you need to configure its API directly. Make lists GetScreenshot and HTML/CSS to Image as screenshot-related options; those listings establish available integrations, not a ranking of their price, fidelity, or reliability.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
What to compare Why it matters
Native Make module or HTTP setup Make’s HTTP app is intended for APIs without a native integration. GetScreenshot has a Make listing describing automated website snapshots and related scheduled use cases. GetScreenshot on Make.
Capture controls Check the provider’s documentation for controls you need, such as viewport, full-page capture, delay, authentication, or custom CSS. The Make listings do not establish that every named service supports each option.
Result delivery Confirm whether the provider returns image data, an asynchronous job, or a URL that must be downloaded. Make’s HTTP documentation provides general request and download modules, not a prescribed provider-specific flow.
Authentication, limits, retention, and price Use the provider’s current documentation and account terms; the Make integration listings do not establish complete limits or current pricing.
Next destination Decide where the image should go. GetScreenshot’s listing describes storage and sharing as use cases. GetScreenshot’s Make listing.

Make also lists an HTML/CSS to Image integration with a “Create a Screenshot of a URL” action. Its integration page describes Make’s HTTP request and download-file modules alongside those actions. HTML/CSS to Image on Make.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. Make can call its API with one GET request; the service returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. Before capture it accepts cookie/consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status.

For an image response, this cURL example saves a WebP capture. Replace the URL with the page you want to capture and provide your API key:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request parameters and response details. To use it in Make, configure an HTTP request using the documented endpoint and credentials, then map the returned file through the rest of your scenario. ScreenshotNeo also has an MCP server with take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for AI agents using Claude, Cursor, or another MCP client.

Troubleshoot an unattended scenario

  • The request is rejected: Check the screenshot provider’s authentication requirements and ensure credentials are stored in Make’s dedicated Credentials field when using its HTTP app. Verify the endpoint and required parameters against the provider’s documentation.
  • The scenario runs but no image reaches the destination: Inspect the API response. It may be a job identifier that needs polling or a URL that needs downloading rather than an image payload that can be mapped directly.
  • The screenshot is incomplete or unexpected: Check the provider’s capture options and whether the target page requires a delay, authentication, or other vendor-supported settings. Do not assume those options exist without checking its API documentation.
  • Runs are queued or a webhook receives HTTP 429: Distinguish instant-trigger rate limits from scheduled periodic-run intervals. For a webhook 429, follow Make’s instruction to wait and retry; coordinate retries with the screenshot API’s own limits.
  • A request returns a 4xx or 5xx error: Configure the HTTP module’s error behavior, inspect incomplete executions, and apply only retry rules supported by the provider’s limits and error guidance.
