Use BrowserCat to host the browser, Playwright to define each visit and screenshot, and a separate scheduler to run the script at the Indian business’s chosen local time. BrowserCat’s reviewed guides document browser automation and connection setup, not recurring scheduling; do not assume the scheduler is built into BrowserCat. BrowserCat quick start · Playwright connection guide.
How the scheduled screenshot workflow fits together
There are three separate parts: a Playwright script that visits the page and saves an image, BrowserCat’s hosted browser session that runs the browser automation, and an external scheduler that starts the script on a recurring timetable. BrowserCat’s quick start shows connecting Playwright to its browser endpoint, navigating to a page, and taking a screenshot. The reviewed BrowserCat documentation does not establish a built-in recurring scheduler.

- Capture script: choose the URL, readiness condition, viewport or capture scope, and output destination.
- Hosted browser: connect the script to BrowserCat using the documented WebSocket endpoint and API key.
- Schedule: run the script from a scheduler in your hosting or CI environment, with the intended timezone configured there.
Build and validate the Playwright capture
Choose a repeatable capture definition
For useful comparisons, keep the target URL, viewport dimensions, page-readiness condition, and screenshot type consistent. Decide whether you need the visible viewport, a full-page capture, or a particular element. BrowserCat’s quick start demonstrates Playwright screenshot capture; its MCP README describes capturing a page or selected element with dimensions. See the BrowserCat MCP server README for those capture options.
Connect Playwright to BrowserCat
BrowserCat’s Playwright setup requires an account and API key. The connection guide demonstrates sending the key in connection headers and using the hosted browser endpoint. Keep the key in your scheduler’s secret store or environment configuration; do not commit it to a public repository. Follow the current setup syntax in BrowserCat’s Playwright connection guide, since SDK setup details can change.

After connecting, the capture logic follows the ordinary Playwright flow shown in BrowserCat’s quick start: open a page, navigate to the chosen URL, wait for the relevant page state, and call Playwright’s screenshot method. Write the image to a durable location accessible to the scheduled job, or upload it to storage your business controls. Give each artifact a predictable name, such as a site identifier plus an ISO-formatted timestamp.
Validate before automating
- Run the script manually and check that the screenshot shows the expected content rather than a loading screen or an error.
- Confirm the output filename, timestamp, dimensions, and storage permissions.
- Record what the job should do after a failure: retry, preserve logs, and notify a responsible person.
These are workflow choices for your business; the cited BrowserCat pages do not establish storage retention, alerting, or retry behavior for your scheduler.

Set the schedule in Indian local time
Configure the recurring trigger in the scheduler your business already uses, such as a hosting platform or CI service. Set its timezone explicitly to the time zone your business intends to follow, and verify the scheduler’s current timezone and retry documentation. BrowserCat’s connection does not configure the schedule or its timezone.

- Choose a run frequency and local clock time that suit the monitoring need.
- Set the scheduler’s timezone rather than relying on an assumed server default.
- Store the BrowserCat API key as a secret in that execution environment.
- Run the job once manually, then inspect its logs and next scheduled run in the scheduler’s interface.
Do not infer that the browser executes in India because the business is Indian. BrowserCat’s configuration overview says sessions currently run near the request and that explicit region routing is on the roadmap; it does not establish an India-specific region or a guaranteed execution location.

Decide where screenshots and failures go
Before enabling recurring runs, choose durable storage, access controls, retention duration, and a naming convention that makes dates and targets easy to distinguish. Also decide who owns API-key rotation, scheduler changes, failed-run investigation, and notifications. These are operational responsibilities to configure around BrowserCat; they are not features established by the cited setup pages.
Troubleshoot common failures
- Authentication or connection error: verify the API key, that it is passed as the connection guide specifies, and that the script uses the documented endpoint. Check the secret in the scheduler environment, not only on your development machine.
- The job runs at the wrong time: inspect the scheduler’s timezone setting and current timezone documentation. BrowserCat does not supply the recurring schedule.
- The screenshot shows incomplete content: revisit the page-readiness condition and wait for the specific content needed, rather than capturing immediately after navigation.
- Images are missing or inconsistent: keep viewport and capture settings fixed and check whether the relevant page content loads only after scrolling or other interaction; adjust the Playwright visit accordingly.
- The scheduled job cannot save its output: check the execution environment’s write permissions and credentials for the chosen storage destination, then confirm the resulting object or file is accessible to the intended readers.
- A failed run goes unnoticed: configure logging, retry policy, and failure notification in the scheduler or surrounding workflow; do not assume those are configured by the BrowserCat connection.
BrowserCat workflow versus a managed recurring service
A script plus external scheduler gives the business control over custom browser actions, waits, and page-specific logic, while requiring it to maintain the code, secrets, schedule, artifacts, and failure handling. ScreenshotAPI.net describes hourly-through-monthly recurring captures and persistent storage on its schedule screenshots product page; that is a different managed-service approach, not evidence that BrowserCat includes an integrated scheduler. Compare current limits, costs, execution-location options, retention, access controls, retries, and notification behavior directly before choosing. The available information here does not verify current pricing for either option.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. A single GET request can return an image or PDF; for a recurring workflow, call it from your scheduler and store the response. Its cleanup steps remove cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. An MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots, and 1,000 screenshots a month are free with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.
