You can schedule TikTok posts with Buffer by connecting your account, preparing a video and caption, choosing automatic publishing or a TikTok notification handoff, then selecting a queue slot or a specific time. Automatic publishing is the hands-off option for supported posts; notification publishing lets you finish in TikTok when you need native features such as trending audio. Before relying on a schedule, check the connected channel’s timezone and confirm which publishing path the post will use.
How to schedule a TikTok post with Buffer
- Connect TikTok and open its channel. Buffer’s May 2026 scheduling guide describes starting by connecting the TikTok account and opening that channel in Buffer.
- Prepare the post. Create a post, upload the video, add a caption and relevant hashtags, then review the preview and thumbnail.
- Choose how it will publish. Select Automatic for supported content, or Notify Me if you plan to complete the post in TikTok.
- Set the time. Add the post to the next available queue slot or choose a date and time. Check that the TikTok channel’s timezone matches the intended publishing time.
- Complete setup for notification publishing. Install the Buffer mobile app and enable push notifications. At the scheduled time, tap the alert and finish publishing in TikTok.
Interface labels can change, so consult Buffer’s current workflow guide if a control has moved.

Automatic publishing or Notify Me?
Automatic publishing
Automatic publishing sends supported content at its scheduled time through the integration. It is the better fit when you want the post to go live without returning to TikTok to finish it. Not every TikTok-native feature is available through this route.

Notification publishing
Notification publishing is a handoff, not automatic posting: Buffer alerts your phone, and you complete the post in TikTok. Buffer’s notification-publishing help article identifies adding trending audio as one reason to use the app workflow. This path requires the Buffer mobile app and push notifications to be enabled.

Which TikTok accounts can use Buffer?
Buffer’s TikTok product page says personal and business accounts are supported, while warning that TikTok feature availability can vary by account type or region. That is separate from TikTok’s native web scheduler: Buffer’s May 2026 guide says the native scheduler requires a creator or business account. Account eligibility for Buffer should not be confused with eligibility for TikTok’s own scheduler.
Check the channel timezone before scheduling
Buffer assigns a timezone and posting schedule to each connected channel. If the browser timezone differs from the channel timezone, the time shown can look different from the intended channel-local publishing time. Review the channel setting using Buffer’s timezone and posting-schedule instructions before choosing a slot.

Buffer versus TikTok’s native web scheduler
The following comparison reflects Buffer’s May 2026 description of the two workflows; it is vendor-reported, not an independent feature audit. Platform integrations and limits can change.
| Consideration | TikTok native web scheduler, as described by Buffer | Buffer, as described by Buffer |
|---|---|---|
| How far ahead | Up to 30 days | Buffer says scheduling can extend further ahead; current plan and product limits may apply. |
| Editing a scheduled post | Buffer says the scheduled post must be deleted and uploaded again to change it. | Buffer says scheduled posts can be edited before their due time. |
| Cross-posting | Scheduling is confined to TikTok. | Buffer describes cross-posting to other supported social channels. |
| Music and native effects | TikTok’s own app provides access to native features. | Automatic publishing may not support TikTok-only features such as trending audio; use notification publishing to finish in the app. |
| Account type | Buffer says a creator or business account is required. | Buffer says personal and business accounts are supported, subject to account- and region-specific feature availability. |
How to choose a posting time without treating averages as a promise
Buffer’s 2026 timing analysis describes an analysis of 7.1 million posts; its title rounds the figure to 7 million. Buffer’s May 2026 scheduling guide reports Sunday at 9 a.m. as its best overall time in that analysis. These are aggregate findings, not a guarantee for an individual account. Use them as a starting point, then compare results against your audience’s own activity and performance data.

What to check if a scheduled post does not go live as expected
- It was set to Notify Me: look for the phone alert and complete the post in TikTok; the notification route does not publish automatically.
- The displayed time looks wrong: check the TikTok channel’s timezone as well as the browser’s timezone.
- A TikTok feature is missing: use notification publishing when you need to finish with a native TikTok feature that the automatic route does not support.
- You cannot add another scheduled post: Buffer’s scheduling help page reports a limit of up to 10 queued scheduled posts for free users and up to 5,000 for paid users at the time of access. These are changeable product limits; check the current Buffer scheduling help page for the applicable limit.
