You can use Claude to draft and schedule social media posts by connecting it to Buffer’s remote MCP server. Claude provides the conversational interface; Buffer supplies the scheduling tools, manages the queue and publishing workflow, and still applies each social channel’s requirements.
What the Claude–Buffer connection does
MCP lets Claude use tools exposed by Buffer, such as listing channels and creating or checking posts. Buffer remains the service that holds the scheduled post and handles its publishing workflow; Claude does not publish directly to social networks on its own.

Check your channels before drafting
Ask Claude to list the Buffer organizations or channels available to your account. The account information includes its timezone and current local time, while the channel listing provides channel details needed to create a post. Use the exact channel you intend to publish to rather than relying on an assumed account or default.
#1 Best Overall
For example, you can ask: “List my Buffer channels and show me which ones have posts scheduled for tomorrow.” This also helps establish what is already on the schedule before adding another post.
Ask Claude to create and schedule the post
Give Claude the destination channel, the post text or a clear drafting brief, and the intended date and time. State the timezone when you know it; otherwise, ask Claude to use the Buffer account’s timezone and confirm the interpreted local time before proceeding.

Buffer’s post-creation tool supports several scheduling choices: add the post to the queue, share now, share next, or schedule it for a custom time. A custom schedule must use a future time. The tool can also use automatic publishing or notification mode, so clarify which publishing mode you want when it matters for your channel.

Schedule it for April 20 at 10:30 a.m. in the Buffer account timezone. Review the post before approving the change
Creating, editing, or deleting a post changes data in your Buffer account. MCP clients commonly ask for approval before running write tools. Before approving, check that Claude has selected the right channel, preserved the intended copy, chosen the right scheduling mode, and interpreted the date and time correctly. Buffer describes posts as going into its queue for review and editing before publishing.
Verify the scheduled entry
After the write completes, ask Claude to show the scheduled post or queue entry. Confirm the saved content, channel, and scheduled time. Buffer’s post tools return the saved record and report allowed actions, which can help you check what was created and what can be changed next.

You can also ask, “Show me all my scheduled Buffer posts for this week,” to inspect the queue after scheduling.

Buffer’s documented post-creation tool lists Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube, Google Business, Mastodon, TikTok, Threads, Bluesky, and Start Page. Availability for a particular account or channel should be checked in Buffer rather than assumed. Content requirements vary by platform:
Best Value
- Text-only posts: Twitter, Mastodon, Threads, and Bluesky accept text-only posts.
- Image or video required: Instagram and TikTok require an image or video.
- Image and board details required: Pinterest requires an image and board metadata.
- Video details required: YouTube requires a video, title, and category.
If a post needs media or platform-specific metadata, include it in your request and check that the channel accepts the content before approving the scheduled post.
Handle relative dates and timezones carefully
Requests such as “tomorrow at 5 p.m.” are ambiguous unless the timezone is clear. Have Claude use the Buffer account’s timezone and current local time, not an assumed computer or reader timezone. For custom scheduling, Buffer’s documentation specifies ISO 8601 timestamps with an offset and requires the dueAt time to be in the future. If Claude’s proposed time looks wrong, correct it before authorizing the write.
