Set the target URL and capture options, then add a destination such as Dropbox or Slack if you want to save or share each image. Zapier supports hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, and custom schedules, but runs may occur a few minutes after the selected time.
How the recurring screenshot workflow works
The schedule starts the Zap; it does not capture the page itself. A screenshot service must load and render the website, and a separate action is needed if you want to store or distribute the result. Zapier documents a daily Schedule by Zapier and ScreenshotOne workflow, as well as examples that send results to Dropbox, Slack, or Airtable. See ScreenshotOne’s Zapier integration listing.

Set up the Zap
- Create the trigger: In Zapier, create a Zap and select Schedule by Zapier as its trigger.
- Choose the cadence: Select an hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, or custom interval. Set the date, time, and frequency that suit the monitoring job. Custom intervals can cover patterns such as every two weeks or every three months. Zapier’s schedule guide explains the available intervals.
- Add the capture action: Add ScreenshotOne and choose Take Website Screenshot. Enter the public website URL in the required Website URL field.
- Configure the capture: Set only the options needed for the page, such as viewport dimensions, output format, full-page capture, or a delay. The current Zap editor’s fields determine which controls are available for your account and action.
- Test and inspect the result: Run the action test and review the returned data so you know which output to map into later steps.
- Add a destination if needed: Add a separate action to save the image or send it to a channel, for example Dropbox or Slack. Choose the destination field that accepts the screenshot output from the previous step.
- Publish and check the first run: Turn on the Zap, then inspect its first scheduled run and confirm the image is arriving in the expected destination.
Choose a schedule that matches the monitoring job
Hourly or daily checks
Use an hourly or daily interval when changes need frequent review. Estimate monthly captures from the number of scheduled runs, then include any additional downstream actions when checking service and Zapier limits. A schedule trigger itself does not count toward Zapier task usage, but the screenshot and destination actions can have their own usage or plan limits.
Weekly, monthly, or custom cadence
For slower-moving pages, a weekly or monthly capture may be sufficient. Custom intervals allow less common recurring patterns, but the schedule is not a precise timer: Zapier says a Zap may run within a few minutes of the selected time rather than at the exact minute.

First business day of the month
If the job must run on the first business day, Zapier documents a workaround rather than a simple first-business-day trigger: schedule it daily while excluding weekends, format the date, and add a filter. Its example filters for a day of the month less than 4. Check the calendar behavior against your own holidays and business rules; that example does not by itself account for every regional holiday.
Timezone and run timing
Schedule triggers use the timezone configured on the Zapier account, not a timezone setting on the individual Zap. If you change the account timezone, Zapier says to turn the Zap off and back on for the change to take effect. Zapier also does not guarantee triggering at the precise minute selected, so avoid relying on an exact-minute capture for time-sensitive evidence or coordination.
Capture settings to consider
- Viewport versus full page: Use a viewport capture for a consistent above-the-fold check; select full-page capture when the entire page matters.
- Output format: Choose the format required by the destination or downstream process.
- Viewport or device dimensions: Keep dimensions consistent across runs if you plan to compare screenshots over time.
- Delay: Add a delay only when the page needs time for content to render after navigation. The available field and behavior depend on the action shown in your Zap editor.
- Other rendering controls: The integration listing exposes options including cookie-banner and ad handling and IP country. Verify the exact controls currently available in the Zap action before building a workflow around them.
Check quotas, plans, and costs before enabling frequent captures
Review both the screenshot provider’s allowance and Zapier’s requirements for the action path you use. When to use a direct API request instead
If the native Zapier action does not expose a parameter you need, a direct API request may offer another integration path. ScreenshotOne documents GET and POST requests over HTTPS. Zapier distinguishes Webhooks by Zapier, which supports simple or unauthenticated requests, from API by Zapier, which is intended for OAuth2 or API-key authentication. Check current Zapier plan availability and the authentication requirements before choosing either. For a standard recurring capture, start with the native ScreenshotOne action when its controls meet the need.
ScreenshotOne’s getting-started documentation says to call its API over HTTPS.

The Zap runs, but no screenshot is saved
The schedule and capture steps do not automatically create an archive. Confirm that you added a destination action after the screenshot step, tested it, and mapped the screenshot output to the destination’s file or attachment field.

The Zap does not run at the selected minute
A few minutes of delay can be normal; Zapier does not guarantee an exact-minute trigger. If you changed the account timezone, turn the Zap off and back on so the revised timezone takes effect.
The screenshot action test fails or returns unexpected data
Check that the Website URL field contains the intended public URL, review the action’s required fields, and test again. Inspect the returned data before mapping it downstream; fields available from the action can depend on the current integration and editor.
The capture looks incomplete or inconsistent
Check whether the workflow needs full-page capture rather than a viewport image, and keep viewport dimensions consistent between runs. If the page loads content after navigation, test an appropriate delay if the action exposes one. Site behavior and available rendering options vary, so verify results with the target page before relying on an archive.

The workflow exceeds an allowance or cannot be turned on
Count scheduled captures for the billing period and account for capture and destination actions separately. Check the screenshot provider quota and the Zapier plan requirements for the exact native action or API path in use; do not infer one path’s plan rules from another.
