With GrabzIt, you can schedule recurring website screenshots in its online Screenshot Tool, choosing a daily, weekly, or monthly cadence and pausing or resuming the task when needed. If you need captures to run as part of your own application or operations workflow, call GrabzIt’s screenshot API from a scheduler such as cron instead.

For a straightforward recurring job, start with the online tool. Use an external scheduler when you need application-level control over when a capture runs or what happens with its result.

Set up a recurring capture in the online tool
- Open the Screenshot Tool and identify the page. Enter the URL you want to capture. Confirm that the page is publicly reachable or that you have the access details and configuration needed for the service to load it.
- Choose the output and capture area. Select the output format and relevant capture options. Decide whether you need the visible viewport, a whole page, or a specific element. - Set the schedule. Configure the task to recur daily, weekly, or monthly, or use the tool’s documented date-and-time scheduling option if you need a specific run time. The available documentation confirms these scheduling controls but does not establish a universal time zone or exact field labels, so check the displayed settings in your account before saving. - Choose where results go and how they are retained. GrabzIt’s support documentation lists Amazon S3, Dropbox, FTP, and WebDav among API export destinations. Archiving depends on account package and task settings; tasks configured to be deleted on completion are not archived. - Save the task, then verify a capture. Check that the task is active and that an output arrives in the configured destination. A successful one-time capture confirms the URL and capture settings, but does not by itself verify future delivery or retention.
Pause or resume a scheduled task
Use the task controls in the online tool when you need to stop or restart recurring captures. GrabzIt documents both pause and resume for scheduled tasks; this lets you suspend a task without treating deletion as the only way to stop future runs. Screenshot Tool

Use cron or another scheduler with the API
The API route separates the schedule from the screenshot request: your scheduler decides when to run, and your server-side job makes the capture request and handles the result. The exact code depends on the API method and language you use. GrabzIt’s Python documentation confirms cronjobs, webpages, and apps as places from which the screenshot API can be called. Protect API credentials
Do not put a GrabzIt REST API application key in client-side code. GrabzIt warns that REST API use from the client side exposes the application key. Run the request from a server-side job or use the documented JavaScript API route where appropriate. GrabzIt API documentation
Capture area and result handling
Set the capture options in the API request to match the report you need. GrabzIt’s REST documentation specifies browser height -1 for a whole-page capture. The online tool also supports CSS-selector targeting for an HTML element. For programmatic output handling, the REST documentation describes callback and export parameters; consult it for the precise parameters supported by the API method you are using. Manage multiple scheduled tasks safely
If you are managing a larger set of recurring captures, treat bulk import as a potentially destructive operation. GrabzIt’s CSV mass importer overwrites all current scheduled tasks, rather than simply adding rows to the existing set. Troubleshoot recurring captures
- No capture appears at the expected time: Confirm the task is active rather than paused, and check the recurrence and date-and-time settings. For an external scheduler, confirm that the job ran and that its server-side request reached the API.
- The screenshot is cropped or misses content: Review whether the task captures the viewport, full page, or a selected element. For GrabzIt REST full-page capture, its documentation specifies browser height
