You can schedule a Google Business Profile post directly in Google: open your profile, choose Posts, add an Update, Offer, or Event, turn on Schedule this post, then set a date and time. Google also offers weekly, monthly, and custom repeat schedules. Scheduling helps you plan updates, but it does not guarantee more traffic or higher local rankings.
Schedule a post in Google Business Profile
- Open the profile you manage. In Google Search or Maps, find or select your Business Profile.
- Open the post composer. Choose Posts, then Add post.
- Choose a post type. Select Update, Offer, or Event, depending on what you are publishing.
- Add the details. Write the post and include any relevant image, video, link, or other optional elements.
- Set the publishing time. Turn on Schedule this post, choose the date and time, then select Post. Google’s instructions describe this option as scheduling a post “to publish at a later time.” Google’s post instructions show the full workflow.
To publish on a repeating cadence, use the Repeats dropdown and choose weekly, monthly, or a custom schedule. If you manage multiple profiles and have access to them in the same publishing flow, Google lets you share a post to more than one profile.

Choose the right post type

Keep the scheduled publishing time separate from an Offer’s promotion period or an Event’s start and end. Scheduling controls when the post is published; the dates attached to an Offer or Event describe that promotion or event. Google says older posts are archived after six months unless a date range is set.
Where scheduled posts can appear
Google posts may appear in the Updates or Overview tabs in mobile Search and Maps, in the “From the owner” section on desktop, and as featured posts on mobile. Offers and Events may receive more prominent placement on mobile. The exact placement depends on the device and how a person views the profile, so a scheduled post is not guaranteed a particular position or level of visibility. Check a post after scheduling or publication
Google reviews posts for compliance after publication. A post may be rejected, and policy violations can restrict a post’s display or access to a profile or merchant account. Before scheduling, check the Google Business Profile content policies, confirm Offer dates and terms, and make sure links and media are accurate.
After the scheduled time, verify that the post reached the expected state and is visible as intended. Do not assume a scheduled item is live simply because it appears in a planning view.

When to use a third-party scheduler
Google’s built-in scheduler is a straightforward choice for occasional posts or a single profile. A third-party tool may suit a business that wants a shared calendar across social platforms, coordinated publishing across several profiles, or team planning and approvals. Compare the specific tool’s capabilities before connecting an account:

- Whether it requires a verified profile or particular account permissions.
- How many profiles and channels its plans allow.
- Whether it offers team roles, review, or approval workflows.
- Whether it provides Google Business Profile analytics or engagement reporting.
- How it handles time zones, especially for Offers and Events.
As one vendor-specific example, Buffer documents publishing What’s New, Offer, and Event posts and requires a verified profile for connection. Buffer says it does not currently offer Google Business Profile analytics, and that Event and Offer times use the profile location’s local time zone. Those capabilities should not be assumed for other schedulers.

HighLevel also documents a scheduler in its GBP Optimization workspace with multi-location scheduling and bulk publishing. Its documentation specifies a 1,500-character limit and says its API workflow accepts JPEG and PNG images, but not video. These are HighLevel-specific details, not universal Google limits. For technical teams managing many locations or a custom publishing workflow, Google’s Business Profile APIs can create and update posts. The LocalPost resource includes a scheduledTime property, and its lifecycle can move through SCHEDULED (not yet appearing in Search), PROCESSING, LIVE, or REJECTED. Google says API use requires coding knowledge, developer sign-up, and access configuration, so it is generally not the first choice for an owner scheduling one post. Google’s API documentation covers post data and the post overview and API workflow.

The API documentation describes standard, event, and offer-oriented workflows and call-to-action types such as BOOK, ORDER, SHOP, LEARN_MORE, SIGN_UP, and CALL. It also says Product Posts cannot be created through the API. Do not assume every API option appears in Google’s current interface or in a third-party scheduler. Check Google’s current post data reference before building around a specific field or action.
