How to Schedule a YouTube Broadcast in Streamlabs Talk Studio

Use Talk Studio's Schedule panel to create a YouTube event, then enter its studio and press Go Live when you are ready to broadcast.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

In Streamlabs Talk Studio, open Schedule (or press Shift+J), choose + Schedule, select YouTube, pick a live stream or prerecorded video, and enter the event details and time. Scheduling creates the event; it does not start your broadcast. When it is time to present, return to the scheduled item, click Enter Studio, then press Go Live.

Before you schedule: connect and enable YouTube

Your YouTube channel must be connected to Talk Studio and enabled for live streaming. Streamlabs’ YouTube browser-streaming guide, last updated March 5, 2025, says channel verification can take up to 24 hours; actual approval timing may vary. Grant camera and microphone permissions in your browser if prompted. Streamlabs’ YouTube setup guide has the connection walkthrough.

Streamlabs’ Talk Studio destinations guide, last updated April 25, 2025, describes an additional YouTube Studio enablement step: verify the channel by SMS, then use YouTube Studio’s Create > Go-live > Right now > Built-in webcam flow for an unlisted test stream. The guide advises waiting 24 hours after that test before streaming through Talk Studio. These are Streamlabs’ documented steps, not a guarantee of YouTube’s current approval schedule; check YouTube Studio if its controls or requirements differ. See Streamlabs’ Talk Studio destinations guide.

Schedule the broadcast

  1. Open Schedule. In Talk Studio, click Schedule or press Shift+J. Choose + Schedule.
  2. Select the YouTube destination. If YouTube is missing or rejected, complete the channel verification and live-stream enablement steps above, then check the connected destination again.
  3. Choose the content type. Select Live-stream if you will present live from the studio, or Pre-recorded video to schedule an uploaded recording. Streamlabs’ scheduling guide, last updated April 25, 2025, states that prerecorded files are limited to 5 GB, with maximum durations of one hour on Standard or two hours on Pro/Ultra. Plan terms and limits can change, so verify them in the current Talk Studio interface.
  4. Enter the event details. Add the title, description, date and time, and thumbnail where prompted. The same April 25, 2025 guide states that scheduling is available up to 50 days ahead; check the current date picker if it offers a different range.
  5. Confirm it was created. Wait for Talk Studio’s success notification. Streamlabs says YouTube creates an event link; use the confirmation details to share the scheduled event with viewers. Keep the YouTube destination connected after scheduling—the guide cautions against deleting destinations while scheduled broadcasts depend on them.

Streamlabs describes scheduling as a way to give viewers advance notice of when and where a broadcast or prerecorded video will appear. The event page gives viewers a place to find the scheduled broadcast before it begins.

Enter the studio and start at broadcast time

  1. Open Schedule and find the scheduled broadcast.
  2. Click Enter Studio for that item. If guests will join, enter the studio before inviting them.
  3. When you are ready to broadcast, press Go Live or use Shift+Enter.
  4. If you entered the studio but are not ready, use Schedule to leave without starting the broadcast.

Streamlabs’ scheduling guide, last updated April 25, 2025, says a scheduled broadcast cannot be started after its scheduled date and time has passed; its stated recovery is to delete it and create a new schedule. The guide also says to go live within 15 minutes of the scheduled time. These are dated Talk Studio instructions, not general YouTube rules, and may change—check the current Schedule panel if a broadcast is late or the controls behave differently.

Common scheduling problems

  • YouTube does not appear as a destination: Confirm that the correct YouTube account is connected, channel verification is complete, and live streaming has been enabled in YouTube Studio. Allow for the verification and enablement delays described in Streamlabs’ setup guidance.
  • The schedule action is unavailable or rejected: Check the required title, date/time, and other fields, and make sure the selected date falls within the range currently allowed by Talk Studio.
  • The prerecorded video will not upload: Check the current plan’s file-size and duration limits. Streamlabs’ April 25, 2025 guide lists 5 GB and plan-specific durations, but those limits may have changed.
  • You cannot start the scheduled item: Make sure you selected the correct item and entered its studio. If its scheduled date/time has already passed, Streamlabs’ guide advises creating a new schedule rather than starting the expired one.
  • The event link is missing: Look for the success notification and its confirmation details. Streamlabs says YouTube creates an event link when scheduling succeeds.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your goal is an always-on YouTube channel playing uploaded videos rather than a scheduled live presentation from Talk Studio, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It keeps the stream running without a computer or home connection left on, supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. Start your free StreamNeo day.
