WhatsApp’s scheduled-message control is not yet a universal Android feature. A WABetaInfo report dated October 12, 2026 describes a gradual rollout to some Android beta testers, including accounts running beta version 2.26.40.7. If your account has access, type a message, then press and hold the Send button to choose a delivery time.
If holding Send does nothing, the most likely explanation is that the rollout has not reached your account. Update WhatsApp and check again later; there is no documented setting or guaranteed workaround that forces activation. Until access arrives, a calendar or reminder alert can prompt you to send the message manually.

Is scheduled messaging available on Android?
Availability is currently account-dependent rather than universal. WABetaInfo reported on October 12, 2026 that scheduled messages were rolling out to some Android beta testers and would expand to more accounts over the following weeks. The compatible beta build identified in that report is 2.26.40.7.
That report does not establish general availability in the stable Android app, nor does it say what percentage of Android users have access. A phone can therefore be on a recent WhatsApp build and still lack the control. The rollout is tied to the account receiving the feature, not simply to a switch that every user can turn on.

When the feature is present, the entry point is inside a chat: compose the message and press and hold Send. It is not described as a permanent Schedule message item in the overflow menu.
How to schedule a WhatsApp message when the option is available
The following is the beta-reported Android flow. Labels and placement can change as WhatsApp continues the rollout, so do not assume that every beta account will show all of these controls.
- Open the conversation. Select an individual chat or a group chat where you want the message delivered.
- Compose the message. Enter your text in the normal message field. The beta reporting also describes support for a link, a photo, or a video.
- Press and hold Send. Do not tap the button normally. A long press is the reported gesture that opens the scheduling panel when your account has the feature.
- Choose the date and time. Select a delivery time in the scheduling panel, then confirm the scheduled send.
- Verify the pending message. Open the chat’s info screen and look for the scheduled-messages section. From there, you can review pending items and, where offered, manage or delete them.
Prepare the message before opening the scheduler
Because the reported control appears after you compose the message, write the complete text first. Check the recipient or group name, links, spelling, and any details that could become outdated before the planned delivery. If you are scheduling media, select the single photo or video you intend to send rather than assuming the panel will accept a batch.

How far ahead can you schedule?
The reported beta window is from 10 minutes ahead to two weeks ahead. Those limits come from WABetaInfo’s 2026 beta coverage and may be adjusted before, or during, wider release. If a desired time falls outside the panel’s allowed range, the app may require you to choose another time rather than accepting a custom date.
A two-week ceiling matters for birthdays, travel notices, appointments, and other messages planned well in advance. For those dates, create a reminder now and send manually when it fires. Do not leave a draft in the composer and assume WhatsApp will deliver it later; the message must actually be accepted by the scheduling panel.
What can a scheduled message contain?
Beta reporting describes scheduled text, links, photos, and videos in both individual and group chats. A photo or video send is limited to one item per scheduled send. If you need to deliver several media files, plan separate scheduled messages rather than assuming that a multi-selection will be accepted.
Separate scheduled sends also make it easier to review which item is pending. Use the chat-info management area to confirm that each message has its own scheduled entry before you leave the conversation.
Can it send if the phone is offline?
The reported beta behavior allows the message to send while the device is offline and the WhatsApp app is closed. This is a beta-reported capability, not a promise that every account, phone configuration, or future version will behave identically. Keep WhatsApp updated and treat the scheduled-message status in the chat as the authoritative indication that the item is still pending.

Offline sending does not change the need to schedule successfully in the first place. If the long-press panel never appeared or the confirmation was not completed, there is no pending message for WhatsApp to deliver. Verify the entry in chat info rather than relying on memory.
How to review, change, or cancel a scheduled message
After scheduling, use the chat-info area to find the scheduled-messages section. The beta reports describe this area as the place to review, manage, or delete pending messages before delivery.
Review a pending message
- Open the chat containing the scheduled item.
- Open the chat’s info screen.
- Select the scheduled-messages section.
- Check the message content and its planned delivery time.
Reviewing is especially useful when several messages are planned for one conversation or when you scheduled a photo or video. Confirm the intended chat, text, media item, and time before leaving the item pending.
Change or replace a message
The reported management area supports reviewing, managing, or deleting pending messages. If the beta interface does not offer an edit command, delete the pending item and create a new scheduled message with the corrected content and time. Do not assume that editing the original composer draft will change an item that has already been scheduled.
Delete a pending message
Choose the scheduled item in that same management area and use the available delete control. According to the beta report, deleting a scheduled message does not notify the intended recipient. A recipient also cannot see that a message was scheduled; they see it only if and when it is delivered.
What happens in a group if membership changes?
For group messages, the beta reporting says only members who belonged to the group when the message was scheduled will receive it. Someone added after scheduling is not included in that delivery. Check the group’s membership before scheduling anything that depends on a particular audience.

If a new member must receive the information, send a separate message after that person joins. Conversely, review a pending group message if someone leaves or if the intended audience changes; the reported rule is based on the earlier membership state.
Why the scheduling option may be missing
A missing control is consistent with the gradual rollout not having reached your account. WABetaInfo described the feature as available to some beta testers and expanding over the following weeks. The absence of a long-press option therefore does not, by itself, indicate a broken phone or a mistake in your chat.
Run the supported checks
- Update WhatsApp. Install the newest version offered through your normal Android app channel. The beta report identified version 2.26.40.7, but having that or another recent build does not guarantee account access.
- Try the gesture in a normal chat. Open an individual or group conversation, type a short test message, and press and hold Send. The reported entry point is the long press, not a menu command.
- Check again later. Feature flags can be enabled for accounts in stages. A control that is absent today may appear after the rollout reaches your account.
- Confirm what you are trying to schedule. Personal-chat scheduling, Business away messages, and Business marketing messages are separate features. Seeing one does not imply that the others are available.
How to tell whether the problem is rollout or the gesture
Use a short, disposable test message in both an individual chat and a group chat. Tap-and-hold the Send button long enough for Android to register a long press, rather than tapping it once. If both chats send normally but show no scheduling panel, the account likely has not received the rollout. If the control appears in one chat type but not another, note the behavior and keep the app updated; the reported beta supports both types, but staged software can change.

Do not send a sensitive test message merely to diagnose the control. A quick text such as “test” is enough, and you can delete the draft before confirming any scheduled time.
Actions that are not established as reliable fixes
The available reporting does not establish that joining a beta program, reinstalling WhatsApp, changing an Android setting, clearing app data, or sideloading an APK will activate scheduled messages. Those actions can introduce account, backup, or security problems without changing rollout eligibility. Do not install an unofficial package merely because a website claims it unlocks the feature.
Reinstalling can also create avoidable backup and login work. Since access is being expanded by account, a clean installation is not a substitute for waiting for the rollout. Keep your account and messages protected and use the official update channel.
What to do while you wait for access
The dependable fallback is a reminder, not automatic WhatsApp delivery. Create an event or reminder for the intended time, include the recipient and message text in the reminder, and send the message manually when the notification appears.
Reminder workflow
- Open your Android calendar or reminder app.
- Create an alert for the desired send time.
- Put the recipient, chat name, and exact message in the alert’s notes so you do not have to reconstruct it later.
- When the alert fires, open WhatsApp, open the chat, paste or type the message, and tap Send.
- Mark the reminder complete after confirming that the message appears in the conversation.
This method does not send anything automatically. It is useful when timing matters but your account has not received WhatsApp’s native control.

Why a third-party auto-sender needs caution
The reviewed material does not establish a safe, reliable third-party Android app for automatically sending personal WhatsApp messages. An app that requests notification access, accessibility access, screen control, or your WhatsApp credentials can expose message content and account activity. Unless you can independently verify its security, reliability, and compliance with WhatsApp’s rules, a manual reminder is the lower-risk option.
Be particularly skeptical of tools promising to unlock a hidden WhatsApp setting or asking you to sideload an APK. No guaranteed activation method is established for those approaches, and a supposed shortcut can leave you with an unsupported app version or exposed account data.

The practical distinction is whether the method sends a personal message automatically. Native Android scheduling is the only reported personal-chat option here, but it is account-dependent. A reminder is broadly available but requires a manual send. Business features automate business-specific communications and should not be treated as substitutes for a personal scheduled message.

Do not confuse personal scheduling with WhatsApp Business features
Away messages
WhatsApp Business away messages are reactive auto-replies. They respond after someone contacts the business; they do not let you write a personal chat message now and choose a later delivery time.
The Business help guidance provides three schedule choices: always, a custom schedule, or outside business hours. The last option requires business hours to be defined in the business profile, and the feature requires an active internet connection.
That makes an away message useful for setting expectations when a business is unavailable, not for sending a birthday greeting, appointment reminder, or planned announcement to a chosen personal recipient.
Marketing messages
WhatsApp’s separate help guidance for creating and sending a marketing message describes a paid business workflow and says the device must be connected when the message is due. That documentation concerns marketing communication, not ordinary one-to-one or group conversations in a personal account.
Payment and business eligibility belong to that marketing workflow. They do not confirm that a personal Android account has received scheduled-message controls, and using a Business profile does not guarantee access to the beta feature.
Important limits and privacy details in the beta report
- Rollout status: The October 12, 2026 report covers a limited Android beta rollout, not confirmed stable-app availability for everyone.
- Scheduling range: The reported earliest time is 10 minutes ahead and the latest is two weeks ahead.
- Media: A scheduled photo or video is limited to one item per send.
- Chat types: Individual and group chats are supported in the reported flow.
- Offline behavior: The beta report says delivery can occur while the phone is offline and WhatsApp is closed.
- Group membership: Only people who were members when the message was scheduled are included; later additions are excluded.

Troubleshooting scenarios
Holding Send still sends immediately
Use a deliberate press-and-hold rather than a quick tap. If a long press still produces no scheduling panel, your account may not have the feature. Test in another ordinary individual or group chat, update WhatsApp through your normal channel, and check again later.
The option appeared, then disappeared
A staged beta feature can change as WhatsApp adjusts its rollout. Record the app version and check for an update. Do not assume that reinstalling or changing Android settings will restore access; no such fix is established by the current reporting.

The scheduled item is not where you expected
Look in the chat’s info screen, specifically the scheduled-messages section described in the beta flow. It is not necessarily displayed as a normal unsent bubble in the main conversation view.
A group member was added after scheduling
The reported behavior excludes people added after the message was scheduled. If that person must receive the information, send a separate message after they join.
You need delivery beyond two weeks
The reported beta panel supports no more than two weeks ahead. For a later date, create a calendar reminder and send manually, or wait for a future version to change the scheduling range.
You cannot find a scheduled message to cancel
Return to the exact individual or group chat used when the message was created, open its info screen, and look for scheduled messages. A reminder notification or a draft in the composer is not proof that WhatsApp accepted a scheduled item. If the management section is absent, the account may not have the beta flow or the message may never have been confirmed.

- Use native WhatsApp scheduling when the long-press control is present and the delivery falls within its reported 10-minute-to-two-week window.
- Use a reminder when the control is absent, the date is farther than two weeks away, or you need to review the message immediately before sending it.
- Use a Business away message only when you need an automatic response to incoming business inquiries.
- Use the Business marketing workflow only for the separate paid marketing use case documented by WhatsApp.
- Avoid unverified automation apps and unofficial APKs that claim to bypass the rollout.
The key test is simple: open a chat, type the message, and press and hold Send. If the scheduling panel appears, choose a date and time and manage the pending item from chat info. If it does not, update WhatsApp and wait for the account-based rollout; there is no confirmed switch that forces the feature on.
