How do I scan a QR code on my Samsung A53 5G?
Use the Camera app

Open Camera and select Photo mode.

Point the camera at the QR code and hold the phone steady until a prompt appears. You do not need to take a picture.

Use the Quick settings scanner

Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the notification shade, then swipe down again if needed to show Quick settings.

Tap Scan QR code.

Frame the code and review the detected content before choosing an action. Samsung’s instructions also describe a flashlight control for dim settings.

How do I scan a QR code saved on my phone?

Save the QR image to Gallery. If it cannot be saved directly, take a screenshot that includes the entire code.

Open the image in Gallery.

Press and hold the QR code until a notification appears, then review the detected content.
The code should be complete, clear, and high quality for recognition.

What should I try if the A53 will not recognize a QR code?

Check that Scan QR codes is enabled under Camera settings.

Make sure the entire code is visible, sharp, and not damaged or covered.

Improve the lighting and avoid shadows or glare. Use the scanner’s flashlight control when available.

Move the phone slightly closer or farther away until the code comes into focus.

If Scan QR code is not visible in Quick settings, open the panel’s edit or customization controls and look for the tile. The panel layout can change with software updates; Samsung’s A53 update information describes Quick panel customization and a QR scanner shortcut. Samsung Galaxy A53 update information. You can use Camera as an alternative.
Is it safe to scan any QR code?
No. Samsung advises scanning only codes from sources you trust. Before opening a link, joining a Wi-Fi network, or downloading anything, check the destination and the action the phone proposes. A QR code can lead to an unsafe website or an unwanted download.
Why might the steps look different?
Quick settings tiles and panel organization can vary across software versions, and Samsung notes that screens and settings may differ by country. Look for the named scanner tile or its customization controls rather than relying on one fixed tile position. Samsung US also documents Camera and Quick settings scanning.
