Cover-More Comprehensive+ Annual Multi-Trip: What It Covers—and Where It Stops

Cover-More’s annual multi-trip policy allows separate trips within selected per-trip limits. Here are the key Comprehensive+ benefits, qualifications and buying checks.

Verdict: Cover-More Comprehensive+ annual multi-trip insurance may suit eligible Australian travellers taking several trips in a year, but its per-trip limit matters more than the word “annual.” International trips can be set to 30, 45 or 60 days each; domestic trips can be 15 or 30 days each. It is not cover for one continuous year-long journey, and benefits remain subject to the policy wording, exclusions and selected options.

What does “annual multi-trip” mean?

The policy period runs for 12 months and can cover multiple separate journeys during that period. Each journey must fit the maximum duration selected for the policy. Cover-More says you must return home for that trip duration to reset; the selected maximum is not a single pool of travel days to divide among trips.

Cover-More’s annual multi-trip product page, accessed in 2026, lists international options of 30, 45 or 60 days per trip and domestic options of 15 or 30 days per trip. A 60-day international option can therefore fit a journey of up to 60 days, but it does not make a longer continuous trip eligible. Check the exact trip dates against the policy wording and your Certificate of Insurance.

How long can each trip last, and who can buy a policy?

Cover-More’s current annual multi-trip page says purchasers must be under 75 when buying. It also says domestic annual trips generally need to be at least 250 km from home. The page notes an exception for a closer trip that includes at least one night in paid accommodation. Confirm the policy’s definitions and your own eligibility before purchase.

What does Comprehensive+ cover?

For international Comprehensive+, the PDS effective 15 October 2025 identifies Zurich Australian Insurance Limited as insurer. Its listed benefits include overseas medical expenses, emergency dental, and luggage and travel documents. These figures describe the international Comprehensive+ benefits in that PDS; they are not blanket promises, and definitions, sub-limits, excesses, conditions and exclusions apply.

International Comprehensive+ benefit Listed amount and qualification
Overseas medical expenses Unlimited in the PDS effective 15 October 2025, but cover does not exceed 12 months from onset.
Emergency dental expenses $2,000 in the PDS effective 15 October 2025.
Luggage and travel documents $25,000 overall in the PDS effective 15 October 2025, with lower item limits.
Laptop $5,000 item limit in the PDS effective 15 October 2025.
Camera or video camera $6,000 item limit in the PDS effective 15 October 2025.
Phone or smart watch $2,500 item limit in the PDS effective 15 October 2025.
Pre-trip COVID-19 cancellation Up to $5,000 per policy for the international plans shown in the PDS effective 15 October 2025, subject to stated conditions and excesses.

The headline luggage amount can be misleading if you are travelling with expensive electronics: the relevant item limit may be much lower than the item’s replacement value. Cancellation cover is the amount chosen for the policy and recorded on the Certificate of Insurance, rather than an automatic unlimited benefit.

International and domestic cover are not interchangeable. The international Comprehensive+ benefits include overseas medical cover; domestic benefits differ and do not include the same overseas medical section. Use the benefits and conditions for the travel area you actually select.

Which activities and add-ons need extra attention?

  • Cruises: Cover-More says Cruise Cover is an optional additional choice for sea or ocean cruises of two or more nights, with an extra premium.
  • Snow sports and motorcycle or moped riding: Check the relevant additional cover and policy conditions before relying on cover for these activities.
  • Business travel and rental vehicles: The PDS states that Comprehensive+ is required for the listed Business Pack and Rental Vehicle Comprehensive Cover.
  • Other activities: Check the wording for the specific activity and itinerary rather than assuming it is included because the policy is Comprehensive+.

Are existing medical conditions covered?

Do not assume an existing medical condition is automatically covered. The PDS describes eligibility and health assessment, and says conditions may involve limitations, special conditions or an additional premium. Answer the quote and assessment questions accurately, then check how the condition and the planned trip are treated in the policy documents.

How to judge whether the annual policy is worth it

There is no useful universal verdict without the traveller’s itinerary and quote. Compare a live annual-policy quote with the alternatives available to you using the same destinations, number and length of trips, cancellation amount and optional cover. Cover-More says its premium depends on destination, age, people insured, chosen trip duration, optional cover and existing medical conditions; the available information does not establish a representative current price.

  • Check that every planned journey fits the selected per-trip maximum, including the return-home reset requirement.
  • Match the travel area to the actual trip and review the cancellation amount shown on the certificate.
  • Compare luggage item limits with the value of the items you will take.
  • Include required or relevant activity options, such as cruise cover or cover for planned snow sports or motorcycle/moped riding.
  • Review medical-condition assessment outcomes and the applicable excesses and exclusions.
  • Compare quotes on the same trip assumptions rather than comparing headline premiums with different cover.

Which policy documents should you check before buying?

Cover-More identifies its Comprehensive+ PDS for policies issued on or after 15 October 2025 as current. The PDS effective on that date names Zurich Australian Insurance Limited as insurer. Your own Certificate of Insurance and the PDS that matches its issue date are the key references: older policies may have different wording. The PDS describes itself as information to help customers understand the policy, compare cover and make an informed decision; the benefits table is only a summary.

Before paying, confirm the PDS issue date, selected travel area, exact maximum trip duration, cancellation amount, all declared medical conditions and planned activities on the quote and certificate. Policy conditions also require travellers to pursue recoveries available from a statutory fund, compensation scheme or transport provider; the policy covers only the remaining amount. Annual multi-trip limits are automatically reinstated when each journey ends, with a separate reinstatement rule for luggage in the policy conditions.
