A Samsung Galaxy can handle common scanning tasks with its built-in Camera: use document scanning for paper, text scanning where your model supports it, and Camera or Quick settings for QR codes. Document scans are saved to Gallery and can be edited or exported as PDFs in Samsung Notes. Labels and availability vary by device, software version, and region.
Scan a paper document and save it

When Scan appears, tap it and save the result. Samsung says the scan is stored in Gallery.

Samsung says its document-scanning feature can align rectangular shapes and remove unwanted shadows, hands, and other objects. Results depend on the device and conditions, so check the saved image for clear text and complete edges. Samsung’s document scanning and editing instructions

Edit the scan or export it as a PDF

Open Samsung Notes and start a note.

Attach an image from Gallery, select the scan, and tap Done.

Use Notes to edit the document or import or export it as a PDF.
Samsung also lists Nearby Share, Quick Share, Private Share, Samsung Cloud, Google Drive, and Microsoft OneDrive as sharing or storage options on its support page.

Scan text or find the document scan control
On supported devices, Camera settings can show a button when the camera detects a document or text. Samsung’s general camera guide says settings vary by model. On the Galaxy S26 Australian variant, Samsung gives this path: Camera > Menu > Settings > Scanning. From there, enable Document scan, Scan Text, or Scan QR Codes as needed; those labels and that exact path are specific to the cited S26 regional guidance, not a universal Galaxy menu.
The Camera settings guide also describes an optional Auto scanning setting. If a scan button is missing, check the available Camera settings on your device rather than assuming the feature is supported or located in the same place on every Galaxy model. Galaxy S26 document-detection conditions
Samsung Germany says its intelligent document scanner on the Galaxy S26 series requires One UI 8.5 or later. Its guidance says the document should be rectangular, occupy at least 20% of the camera area, and have all four corners visible. Scan a QR code safely
QR scanning is separate from document scanning. Samsung Support Canada describes two built-in ways to do it, and says a separate QR scanner app is not needed.

Align the code in the scanner, then review the notification before choosing an action.
A QR code can open a website or app, connect to Wi-Fi, or initiate a download. Use codes from sources you trust and inspect the notification rather than opening an unexpected destination automatically. Samsung Canada’s QR scanning instructions
Fix a QR code that will not scan

Make sure the code is clear, complete, and high quality; avoid cut-off or damaged codes.

Improve lighting and reduce glare, reflections, and shadows.

Move the phone nearer or farther away to help it focus, and tap the code on-screen to prompt focus.

When you need multiple document pages
Samsung Business Insights described multipage scanning through the Microsoft Office app in an article published August 1, 2023. That guidance predates current Galaxy software and references older models, so do not assume the steps apply to your phone or current app version. The current Samsung support workflow cited above documents scanning a page with Camera and handling the saved image in Notes; check your device and app version for a suitable multipage option.
