Open the built-in Camera app, point it at the QR code, then tap the link that appears. You can also scan with the Scan Code control in Control Center. Neither method requires a separate QR-scanning app.
Scan a QR code with the Camera app
This is the straightforward option on both iPhone and iPad.

- Open Camera from the Home Screen, Lock Screen, or Control Center.
- On iPhone, select Photo mode. Hold the device so the QR code is inside the camera frame.
- When a link appears on screen, tap it to open the destination.
A QR code may lead to a website, app, coupon, or ticket; it does not always open a website. Apple documents this Camera workflow for iPhone and iPad.

Use Scan Code from Control Center
Scan Code is a dedicated built-in scanner available through Control Center on iPhone and iPad. If you do not see it there, add it first:

- Open Control Center.
- Touch and hold the Control Center background, then tap Add a Control.
- Select Scan Code and return to Control Center.
- Tap Scan Code, position the QR code in view, and tap the link that appears.
Apple’s instructions for iPhone and iPad describe this alternative. Camera is convenient when you already have it open; Scan Code gives you a direct scanner shortcut.
Tips for scanning on iPad
Open Camera, use Photo mode, and position the iPad so the code is inside the camera frame. Tap the link at the bottom of the screen when it appears. If the area is dim, tap the flashlight control to add light, as described in Apple’s iPad guide.

Optional: open Code Scanner with Camera Control
On supported iPhone models, Camera Control can be configured to open Code Scanner. Go to Settings > Camera > Camera Control, then choose Code Scanner. This is an optional shortcut, not a requirement for scanning; availability depends on the iPhone model. See Apple’s Camera Control instructions.
