For the original conversation, use Gemini’s chat history or activity controls instead.
What Keep can—and cannot—save
Google documents Gemini as able to create notes and lists in Keep, add items to existing lists, and find content in notes and lists. You can ask it to save a response, create a named note, or look for a note about a subject. That gives you a practical way to retain a reusable answer or reminder.

A Keep note is separate from the Gemini conversation that produced it. Google’s Keep documentation does not say that saving an answer archives the full chat or makes that conversation searchable in Keep. If you need the exchange and its surrounding context, look in Gemini’s recent chats or activity; if you need a distilled answer you can retrieve by subject, save it as a Keep note.
Save an answer so it is easier to retrieve
- Check the connection first. Be signed in to Gemini, make sure Keep Activity is on, and connect Google Workspace to Gemini. Use the same Google account for Gemini and Workspace. If Gemini prompts you to connect the service, follow that prompt. Google’s current instructions are in its Gemini Apps Help for using Google Keep and instructions for connecting Google Workspace apps.
- Ask Gemini to save the useful part. For example: “Save this answer as a Keep note called ‘Gemini prompt ideas’.” If the whole response is too long or contains context you do not need, ask for a concise summary note instead. A descriptive title and specific topic make the note easier to identify later.
- Review the note. Open Keep or ask Gemini to find the note and check that the saved text is complete and accurate. This is especially important for instructions, dates, and factual claims: Google warns that “Gemini Apps can hallucinate responses or provide outdated information.”
Find the saved note later
In a later Gemini conversation, ask a direct question such as “Do I have any notes related to [topic]?” or “Find my [list name] list.” These are examples of the kind of retrieval prompts Google documents. Gemini can look through connected Keep notes and lists; this is a search for the saved material, not a way to reopen the original chat.

For a topic you expect to revisit, use distinctive terms in the note title and content. For example, a note titled “Router setup steps” is more useful to search for than one titled “Answer.” Treat this as a practical organization habit, not a guarantee that every query will find every note.
Choose Keep or Gemini history based on what you need

Gemini Apps Activity also lets users review prompts, delete activity, and turn Keep Activity off through My Activity. Activity settings and retention for work or school accounts may be managed by an administrator. Google’s Gemini Apps Activity controls explain those options. Requirements and account limitations
- You need to be signed in, have Keep Activity on, and connect Google Workspace to Gemini to use Keep through Gemini.
- For work or school accounts, access may depend on an eligible Workspace edition and administrator enablement. Google says users must explicitly ask Gemini to use the connected service in each new conversation. Check the Workspace connected-app requirements or ask your administrator if Keep is unavailable.
- The documented notes-and-lists integration is not available in Gemini in Google Messages.
Google’s product settings and availability can change, so consult the linked help pages if the controls or connection steps differ in your account.
