Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTo save batch website screenshots to Google Cloud Storage in India, create a bucket in Mumbai (ASIA-SOUTH1) or Delhi (ASIA-SOUTH2), use Playwright to capture each URL, then upload each screenshot file or image buffer as an object. The bucket’s location determines where its object data resides; it does not, by itself, determine where the browser runs.
How the batch workflow fits together
There is no special batch feature required: keep the target URLs in a list, capture them one by one with browser automation, and upload each image to Cloud Storage. Playwright can write a screenshot to a file or return image bytes, and Google Cloud Storage supports uploads from either form. Combining those APIs in a loop is an implementation pattern, not a turnkey batch feature offered by either cited guide.

- Create a Cloud Storage bucket in an India region.
- Authenticate the application that will perform uploads.
- Use Playwright to navigate to each URL and capture a viewport or full-page image.
- Upload the image to a unique, predictable object name and record the result for each URL.
Choose an India bucket location
Google Cloud lists two regional locations in India: Mumbai (ASIA-SOUTH1) and Delhi (ASIA-SOUTH2). Google Cloud explains that “A bucket’s location defines the physical place where object data in the bucket resides.” (Google Cloud, Bucket locations | Cloud Storage)
| Region | Location | How to choose |
|---|---|---|
ASIA-SOUTH1 |
Mumbai, India | Consider proximity to the systems that access the bucket and your deployment arrangement. |
ASIA-SOUTH2 |
Delhi, India | Consider proximity to the systems that access the bucket and your deployment arrangement. |
The cited location documentation establishes where bucket object data resides, not where screenshot processing, application logs, or other copies are located. Choose a location based on your workload and data-location requirements; there is no universally best choice established here.

It also automatically finds and deletes similar or duplicate photo, backs up live photos and allows you to share them with your friends or family with just one tap. Everything stays effortlessly organized, powered by intelligent tagging and recognition.
Create the bucket and configure authentication
Create a bucket in the selected region before running the batch job. During bucket creation, select the location deliberately; Google’s guide documents bucket creation and the Node.js client library at Create buckets | Cloud Storage.
Run the capture job with Google Cloud credentials configured for its runtime. The Cloud Storage client examples use authenticated clients; follow Google’s supported application credentials setup for the environment where the script runs. Keep credentials out of source code and do not make the bucket public merely to enable uploads.

Capture and upload a URL list with Node.js
The example below uses Playwright and the Google Cloud Storage Node.js client. It captures each page as a full-page PNG buffer, then uploads that buffer. Install the packages with npm install playwright @google-cloud/storage and ensure the Playwright browser is installed for the environment according to Playwright’s installation instructions.
const { chromium } = require('playwright');
const { Storage } = require('@google-cloud/storage');
const { createHash } = require('node:crypto');
const bucketName = process.env.GCS_BUCKET;
if (!bucketName) throw new Error('Set GCS_BUCKET to the target bucket name');
const urls = [
'https://example.com/',
'https://example.org/'
];
function objectName(url) {
const parsed = new URL(url);
const slug = parsed.hostname.replace(/[^a-zA-Z0-9.-]/g, '_');
const hash = createHash('sha256').update(url).digest('hex').slice(0, 12);
return `screenshots/${slug}-${hash}.png`;
}
async function main() {
const storage = new Storage();
const bucket = storage.bucket(bucketName);
const browser = await chromium.launch({ headless: true });
const page = await browser.newPage({ viewport: { width: 1440, height: 900 } });
const results = [];
try {
for (const url of urls) {
try {
const response = await page.goto(url, {
waitUntil: 'networkidle',
timeout: 60000
});
if (!response || !response.ok()) {
throw new Error(`Navigation returned ${response ? response.status() : 'no response'}`);
}
const image = await page.screenshot({ fullPage: true, type: 'png' });
const name = objectName(url);
await bucket.file(name).save(image, {
resumable: false,
metadata: { contentType: 'image/png' },
preconditionOpts: { ifGenerationMatch: 0 }
});
results.push({ url, object: name, status: 'uploaded' });
} catch (error) {
results.push({ url, status: 'failed', error: error.message });
}
}
} finally {
await browser.close();
}
console.log(JSON.stringify(results, null, 2));
if (results.some(result => result.status === 'failed')) process.exitCode = 1;
}
main().catch(error => {
console.error(error);
process.exitCode = 1;
});
Set GCS_BUCKET to the bucket name and run the script in the authenticated runtime. The generation-match precondition in this example prevents silently replacing an existing object: a collision fails rather than overwriting. The hostname plus URL hash gives each distinct URL a stable object key; if you want each run retained separately, add a run identifier or timestamp to the key.

Choose screenshot and upload handling
Viewport or full page
A default screenshot captures the visible viewport. Use Playwright’s fullPage: true option when the artifact should include the complete scrollable page. Full-page captures may be larger and take longer, especially for long pages; select the format and capture scope that meet the downstream need. See the Playwright screenshot guide and Page API reference.
Buffer upload or local file
The example keeps the PNG buffer in memory and uploads it directly. This avoids managing intermediate image files, but memory use grows with the size of the image and the number of captures performed concurrently. For a simple sequential batch, one image buffer at a time keeps memory use bounded.

To save to disk instead, use Playwright’s path option, then upload the resulting file with Cloud Storage’s file upload method. Google documents both file and in-memory uploads in its object upload guide and in-memory upload sample.
Grant the minimum upload permissions
Google identifies the Storage Object User role as containing permissions for uploading objects. Uploading under a new, unique name avoids requiring overwrite permission. Replacing an existing object additionally requires storage.objects.delete, according to Google’s upload guidance. See Upload objects | Cloud Storage for the applicable upload details and permissions.

Use an identity scoped to the bucket and workload where practical. The sample’s generation precondition rejects a name collision, so the job does not need to delete an existing object to proceed; decide whether to keep the failed item for review or generate a different key.
Make batches repeatable and recoverable
- Keep a per-URL result. Record the source URL, object name, success or failure, and useful error details. This lets an operator retry only failed captures.
- Retry selectively. Retry transient navigation or upload failures with a bounded backoff. Avoid an unbounded loop, which can prolong a batch or repeatedly hit an unavailable target.
- Prevent collisions. Use unique keys or generation preconditions. A deterministic key is useful for lookup, but subsequent runs need a run ID or explicit overwrite policy.
- Control concurrency. Sequential processing is easiest to reason about. If you add parallel pages, cap the number of active browser pages and uploads to control memory and service load.
- Set practical timeouts. A page may never reach a chosen readiness condition. Use a finite navigation timeout and decide whether the page is still useful when a response is slow or unavailable.
- Fix the rendering environment. Playwright cautions that screenshot output can vary with host operating system, browser version, settings, hardware, power, and headless mode. Keep those factors consistent when comparing captures. See Visual comparisons | Playwright.
Common failures and fixes
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Bucket creation or lookup fails | The bucket name is wrong, the bucket does not exist, or the selected location was not the intended one. | Confirm the configured bucket name and inspect the bucket’s location in Cloud Storage. |
| Upload returns a permission error | The runtime identity lacks the required object-upload permission, or it is not using the expected credentials. | Verify the active application credentials and grant the needed Storage Object User permissions at the appropriate scope. |
| An upload fails on an existing object | The object key already exists and the generation precondition prevents replacement. | Use a new key/run identifier, or deliberately adopt an overwrite policy with the required delete permission. |
| Navigation times out | The site is slow, unavailable, or does not satisfy the selected readiness condition in time. | Check URL reachability and timeout logs; adjust readiness strategy or timeout to suit the target without making waits unlimited. |
| Images differ between runs | Rendering environment or page state changed. | Pin browser and host configuration and stabilize viewport, timing, and page setup. Pixel-identical output is not guaranteed across differing environments. |
| Memory rises during large batches | Many large screenshots or pages are being held concurrently. | Process sequentially or reduce concurrency, and release page/buffer references once each upload completes. |

Does choosing an India bucket mean the browser also runs in India?
No. The bucket location specifies where its object data resides; browser execution location is a separate deployment choice.
Can I keep each batch run instead of replacing earlier screenshots?
Yes. Include a run identifier or timestamp in object names so each run writes to distinct keys.
