If you need an official record of your EPF transactions, use the PDF download option in the EPFO passbook service when it is available. If you instead want to preserve what is currently displayed in your browser, use the browser’s Print to PDF option. These produce different kinds of files: a passbook PDF is the statement; a browser PDF is a snapshot of a rendered page.
Choose the right PDF: passbook statement or webpage snapshot

For a financial record, prefer EPFO’s own passbook PDF rather than printing the webpage. EPFO’s member FAQ and older UAN Member Portal manual document a Download > Download Passbook workflow and a PDF link or control. Those documents are historical, so labels and placement may differ in the current portal.

Download the official EPFO passbook PDF
- Open the official EPFO Member Passbook portal. Check that the address is on the
epfindia.gov.indomain. - Sign in using your UAN and password. Do not share your credentials or OTP with anyone.
- Look for Download, then Download Passbook, or the passbook’s PDF control. The legacy EPFO instructions document those labels, but the current interface may differ.
- Open or save the PDF using your browser’s download prompt. Give the file a useful name, such as
EPF-passbook-2026-10.pdf, and store it somewhere private.
If you cannot access the portal, EPFO’s member service information also lists the UMANG app as a passbook access channel. You can retry later if the service is unavailable; no specific recovery time is guaranteed.
Save the displayed webpage as a PDF in Chrome
Chrome on a computer
- Open the passbook page you want to preserve and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Open the print dialog with Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac.
- Select an available PDF destination, such as Save as PDF, and inspect the preview.
- Choose the save location and save the file. Check the resulting PDF to confirm the relevant content is present.
Chrome’s print dialog and available destinations can vary by operating system. A printed webpage is not necessarily identical to EPFO’s downloadable passbook statement.

- Open the page in Chrome and tap More > Share > Print.
- Choose Save as PDF as the printer destination.
- Choose a storage location and save the PDF.

Protect your passbook file
A passbook contains personal financial information. Save it to a private location and avoid casually uploading or forwarding it. EPFO’s passbook login page warns members never to respond to calls asking for personal details such as Aadhaar, PAN, bank details, OTPs, or payment. It also says EPFO never calls members or pensioners to deposit an amount.
If the download or print flow does not work
- The EPFO PDF option is missing: the detailed EPFO FAQ and manual are older, and current labels may differ. Look for a PDF or download control in the passbook view; do not assume browser printing is the same as the official statement.
- The portal will not load: EPFO’s member portal has displayed temporary service and stabilization notices. Avoid repeated attempts during a stated peak or stabilization period; retry later or use the officially indicated UMANG channel.
- The browser PDF is incomplete: inspect the print preview and saved file. Browser printing may not include interactive or off-screen content. Use EPFO’s PDF control for the passbook record where available.
- You are asked to pay or disclose sensitive details: do not provide an OTP, Aadhaar, PAN, bank details, or payment in response to a call. Return to the official EPFO portal directly.
