Browser print tools do not have a universal setting to remove cookie banners, so try the page’s own consent controls or a supported reader or simplified-print mode if the banner obscures the content.
Save the page as a PDF with your browser
Print preview is the direct route to a PDF in Chrome and Firefox. The page may look different in print layout, so inspect the preview before saving.
Google Chrome on desktop
- Open the webpage and press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac. You can also choose Print from the File menu.
- In the print window, choose the PDF destination, such as Save as PDF.
- Review the preview. If the banner covers text or appears in the output, try the options below before saving.
- Choose Save and select where to store the PDF.
Chrome also offers More > More tools > Save page as, but that saves a webpage rather than directly creating a PDF. See Google Chrome Help: Print from Chrome.

Mozilla Firefox on desktop
- Open the page and choose Menu > Print.
- Set Destination to Save to PDF.
- Check the preview and adjust settings such as orientation, pages, paper size, scale, margins, headers and footers, or backgrounds if needed.
- If the option is available, try Simplified format, then review the preview again and save.
Mozilla notes that webpages may be arranged differently on paper than on screen. The Simplified option is conditional, not available on every page. See Mozilla Support: How to print web pages in Firefox (updated October 1, 2026).
Microsoft Edge
On Windows, press Ctrl+P; on Mac, press Command+P. Review the print preview and choose a PDF destination. On Windows, F9 opens Immersive Reader where supported; Microsoft says it can be used as a clutter-free printing workaround, but it may not be available for all websites. You can also select page content and choose Print from the context menu. See Microsoft Support: Print in Microsoft Edge.

Safari on Mac
For supported articles, select Reader to display the article with distractions removed, then open Print and inspect the preview before saving to PDF. You can set Reader to turn on automatically for articles on a site in Safari’s Websites settings. Reader availability and results depend on the page. Apple’s separate save-page feature creates a Web Archive or saves page source rather than making a PDF, and some webpages may prevent saving displayed items. If the cookie banner still covers the content
Use the banner’s own controls
If the consent banner offers a close, accept, reject, or preferences control, use the option you prefer, then reopen print preview. This is a troubleshooting step, not a guarantee: a site’s banner may or may not disappear from the PDF after you interact with it. You do not have to accept cookies to save a PDF.

Use Firefox’s Simplified format if offered, Safari Reader for a supported article, or Edge Immersive Reader when available. These features can reduce clutter, but none is a universal cookie-banner removal switch. Verify that the preview contains the text and images you need.
Decide based on the preview
- If the banner is absent and the article is complete, save the PDF.
- If the banner remains but does not cover needed content, you can save as-is.
- If it obscures important text or images, try another supported reader or simplified view, or use a webpage editing method before printing.
Firefox support mentions the Print Edit WE extension as an option for editing webpage content before printing. It is an extension, not a built-in browser control; review its availability and suitability before installing it.

Why clearing cookies is a poor first fix
Deleting cookies is not required to create a PDF and can have side effects: Chrome warns that it may sign you out of websites and remove saved preferences. Google also notes, “If you don’t allow sites to save cookies, sites may not work as expected.” Prefer the page’s consent controls or a supported reading view over clearing browser data for this task. Troubleshooting the PDF
- The preview is blank or missing sections: wait for the page to finish loading, reopen Print, and check whether the page has a supported reader or simplified-print view. Print layout can differ from screen layout.
- The banner is still printed: browser print does not promise to omit it. Try the site’s own consent controls, then inspect the preview again; if available, test Reader, Simplified, or Immersive Reader.
- Images or backgrounds are missing: review the browser’s print settings, including backgrounds where offered, and confirm the preview shows the elements you need before saving.
- You cannot find a Save to PDF destination: check the destination or printer selector in the print window. In Firefox, the documented destination is Save to PDF; Chrome lets you choose a PDF destination.
- The page will not save in Safari: Apple notes that some webpages may prevent saving displayed items. Safari’s Web Archive option is a webpage-saving format, not a PDF replacement; use Print and inspect its PDF preview instead.
