The quickest way to save a web application page as a PDF is to open its print dialog, choose a PDF destination, adjust the preview, and save. On a desktop, Chrome uses Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux and Command+P on Mac. For a dashboard or other wide page, check the preview carefully: a PDF is a print rendering, not necessarily a pixel-for-pixel copy of the application on screen.
Save the page from a desktop browser
- Open the exact page and prepare it. Sign in if needed, wait for the content you need, and expand tabs, panels, or other interactive sections that should appear in the PDF. Check that the relevant information is visible before printing.
- Open the print dialog. In Chrome, press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac. Choose the PDF destination in the dialog. Google’s Chrome printing instructions describe saving from print preview.
- Set the page layout. For a wide dashboard or table, try landscape orientation first. Choose a paper size appropriate for the client’s intended use; A4 is a practical starting point for a print-oriented document, but it is not a universal presentation requirement. A Bureau of Indian Standards publication specifies A4 as 21.0 cm × 29.7 cm. BIS publication (PDF)
- Adjust scale and margins. Use the preview to fit the content without shrinking text until it is hard to read. Browser controls vary: Edge documents “Fit to printable area,” “Actual size,” and custom scaling; Firefox documents scale, margins, page range, pages per sheet, headers and footers, and other print settings. - Choose whether to include page details and backgrounds. Page title, URL, date, page numbers, and background graphics can help identify a client handout or add clutter to a clean presentation copy. Set them according to the purpose of the PDF.
- Save, then inspect the actual file. Check every page for cut-off columns, missing sections, unreadably small text, or distracting headers and footers before sending it to the client.
Save a page as PDF on Android
- Open the page in Chrome and wait for the content you need.
- Tap More > Share > Print.
- Select Save as PDF, choose a location, and continue to save.

Do not confuse “Save as PDF” with “Save page as”
These are different operations. Saving from print preview creates a PDF rendering of the page. Chrome’s separate Save page as workflow downloads a webpage as a file; it is not the same as printing the page to PDF. See Google’s instructions for downloading a file in Chrome and printing from Chrome.
Fix common PDF problems
- A section or panel is missing: It may not have been expanded or loaded when you opened print preview. Return to the application, open the relevant content, wait for it, and print again. If it still does not appear, check whether the application provides its own print or export function.
- A wide table is cut off: Try landscape, adjust scale and margins, and check the preview again. If fitting everything makes the text too small, consider whether the content should be split across pages rather than forced onto one.
- The page looks different from the live app: Printing applies a print layout, and web pages may be designed to look different on paper. Compare the preview and saved file with the screen, then adjust settings or use an application-provided export if available. Firefox explains printing web pages.
- Background colors or graphics are absent: Check the browser’s background or graphics setting and inspect the preview. Exact controls vary by browser and operating system.
- Headers or footers distract from the page: Turn them off in the print settings if that option is available, then check the saved PDF rather than relying only on the preview.
When a dedicated web-to-PDF workflow is useful
Browser printing is usually the simplest choice for one page. If you need to convert multiple linked levels of a website or control document structure and layout more closely, Adobe Acrobat documents web-page conversion settings, including options for layout, PDF tags, bookmarks, and headers and footers.
