To save the DigiLocker page currently open in your browser, use the browser’s Print command and choose Save as PDF (or the equivalent PDF destination) if it is available. If you need the actual document fetched from an issuer, download it from DigiLocker’s Issued section instead. A browser-made PDF is a print-layout copy of the page; it is not the same as the issuer-provided record.
Choose the right kind of PDF

DigiLocker distinguishes documents fetched from issuers (“issued documents”) from files uploaded by a user (“uploaded documents”). Its FAQ says a fetched document URI is kept in the account’s Issued section for later use. See the DigiLocker homepage and DigiLocker FAQ.

Save the open DigiLocker webpage as a PDF
- Open the page. In a browser, navigate to the DigiLocker page you want to keep and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Open Print. Use the browser’s Print command, usually in its menu. Keyboard shortcuts and menu labels vary by browser and operating system.
- Select a PDF destination. In the printer or destination choice, select Save as PDF or the equivalent option shown by your browser or device.
- Check the preview. Review the pages and page range. If the preview omits relevant content, try adjusting the range or layout settings available in that print dialog.
- Save and verify. Choose a location and filename, save the PDF, then reopen it to confirm the text and page sections you need are present.
This is a general browser print-to-PDF workflow, not a DigiLocker-specific export feature. Google’s Chrome Help for downloading a file on a computer distinguishes downloading PDFs from saving web pages; Chrome’s “Save page as” option saves a web page and should not be treated as a PDF export.
Download an issued document from DigiLocker
- Sign in to DigiLocker.
- Find the issuer and document type. Fetch the document if it is not already associated with your account.
- Open Issued. Select the fetched record in the Issued section.
- Use the record’s download control, if available. Keep the downloaded issuer document when the request is for the actual record, rather than printing the webpage around it.
DigiLocker describes registering, verifying, fetching and sharing documents as part of the service. Its FAQ explains issued records and URI storage. DigiLocker’s Terms of Use state that documents issued or shared via DigiLocker are legally equivalent to physical originals under the cited 2016 rules. That statement applies to issued or shared DigiLocker documents; it should not be extended to a browser printout or a user-uploaded file. A submission may still specify which format it accepts, so follow the receiving organization’s instructions.

Use a phone if a PDF destination is available
On a phone, use the browser’s Print or share-to-print option if one is available, then choose the PDF destination shown by the device. Menus and options depend on the browser and operating system; there is no single universal phone path established here. If the device offers no PDF destination, use a computer browser or retrieve the actual document through DigiLocker. Do not assume the app can export any arbitrary page as a PDF.

- No PDF option appears: The browser or device may not expose a PDF destination in that print dialog. Try a computer browser; if you need an issuer record, use DigiLocker’s Issued section instead.
- The saved page is incomplete: Check that the content had loaded before printing, then inspect the print preview and page range. A printout is a browser rendering, not a guarantee of a complete or screen-identical capture.
- You cannot find the document: Check whether it needs to be fetched from its issuer and look in Issued. If the record or download control is unavailable, contact DigiLocker Support rather than sending the page through a third-party converter.
- You are unsure which file to submit: Follow the recipient’s instructions. A webpage PDF and an issued document are different files and do not carry the same status.
DigiLocker Terms of Use state that NeGD does not charge for access to issued documents. For reported platform scale, DigiLocker’s homepage displayed more than 70 crore registered users and more than 900 crore issued documents, last updated 28 September 2026; these are rounded homepage totals, not a measure of any individual account’s document availability.
