To make a webinar available on demand on YouTube, upload the recording and schedule it as a regular video. Choose a Premiere instead if you want a shared start time, reminders and live chat around the prerecorded presentation. If the presenter will speak or interact in real time, schedule a live stream and make its archive available afterward.
Choose the right YouTube format
| Format | Best for | What viewers get |
|---|---|---|
| Scheduled video | A finished recording that should become available at a chosen date and time. | The video becomes a regular channel upload at the scheduled time. |
| Premiere | A prerecorded webinar that you want people to watch together. | A public watch page before the start, reminder option, live chat and a shared playback. Viewers can rewind but cannot skip ahead of the point reached in the Premiere. |
| Scheduled live stream | A presenter who will broadcast or interact in real time. | A live event that may be retained as a replay archive afterward. |
All three can lead to later viewing, but only a live stream is a real-time broadcast. Pick the format based on whether the content is already recorded and whether the communal event experience matters.

Publish a prerecorded webinar as a scheduled video
- In YouTube Studio, upload the finished webinar.
- Enter the title, description, thumbnail and other video details.
- Open the Schedule card, choose the intended date and time, and confirm the time zone.
- Schedule the publication and share the resulting video page when appropriate.
This is the simplest route when viewers should be able to watch the recording from a chosen release time, without a countdown or event chat. YouTube notes that the date displayed on the watch page is based on Pacific Standard Time, so check how the publication date will appear to viewers in other time zones. - Upload the completed webinar in YouTube Studio and fill in its video details.
- In the Schedule card, set the date and time, then select the option to set the video as a Premiere.
- Schedule it, then share the public watch page so attendees can visit beforehand and set a reminder.
- Join the chat during the event if you want to welcome viewers or respond to questions.
A Premiere plays the prerecorded video for viewers together in real time. Rewinding is available, but viewers cannot jump forward beyond the current playback point. Afterward, the upload remains on the channel as a regular video, and chat replay is available. YouTube recommends scheduling at least 24 hours in advance so viewers have an opportunity to see the thumbnail in their subscriptions feed; this is creator guidance, not a promise of attendance. The organizer can also use the post-show period to answer questions or point viewers to another resource. YouTube Help: Premiere a new video.

Schedule a live webinar and retain a replay
Check channel eligibility and choose a setup
For computer live streaming, YouTube says the channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. A webcam workflow suits a straightforward presentation; use an encoder workflow when you need more production elements such as slides, overlays, cameras or microphones. YouTube says expensive equipment is not required. A microphone may be a useful optional audio upgrade, but it is not a prerequisite. Schedule and promote the event
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and enter its title, description, privacy and other details.
- Copy the watch link and share it with attendees ahead of time. YouTube recommends sharing a live link at least 48 hours before the event; this is platform guidance, not a measured attendance result.
- Before the webinar, test privately or as unlisted, preview the stream in Live Control Room, confirm the local recording is being written, and check audio and video.
- During the event, monitor the stream and the local recording.

Keep a local backup and manage the archive
YouTube can automatically archive streams shorter than 12 hours. Streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, so keep a local recording if the replay matters. After the event, find the stream under Content > Live in YouTube Studio and set the archive visibility you want. YouTube Help: archive live streams.
Set replay access and organize the recording
- Public: viewers can find the replay on your channel.
- Unlisted: suitable when you intend to distribute the link to a defined audience; test the link with the access your viewers will have.
- Private: restricts access further, so confirm the intended viewers can access it before relying on this setting.
You can change a stream archive’s visibility after the event. Put the replay and any highlights in playlists to make them easier to find. YouTube Help: change video privacy settings and YouTube Help: create and manage playlists.

Troubleshoot common webinar problems
- The video did not publish at the expected local time: verify the scheduled time zone and remember YouTube says the watch-page date is based on Pacific Standard Time.
- Viewers cannot find the Premiere or live event beforehand: confirm the scheduled event and its privacy setting, then share the watch page. YouTube recommends sharing a live link at least 48 hours ahead and scheduling a Premiere at least 24 hours ahead.
- The live stream cannot be started: check that the channel is verified and has not had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days.
- The replay is missing or incomplete: streams over 12 hours may not be captured. Use a local recording backup and check YouTube Studio under Content > Live.
- Attendees cannot watch the replay: confirm whether the archive is public, unlisted or private, and test access using a viewer account or link-sharing method appropriate to the audience.
- Audio or video is not right: preview in Live Control Room before going live, test the setup privately or unlisted, and confirm the local recording and sound during the event.
Copyright and replay readiness
Before publishing a webinar or its replay, make sure you have the rights to the presentation, music, video clips and other material included. YouTube may apply its copyright rules to live broadcasts and uploaded archives; use material you created, licensed or otherwise have permission to use. Review YouTube’s current copyright basics and live-streaming restrictions before the event. A successful live broadcast does not by itself establish that every element is cleared for later publication.
