To loop a prerecorded video on YouTube Live over Airtel broadband, use OBS Studio: add the video as a looping Media Source, connect OBS to the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio, then check the preview and stream health before going live. Choose quality using your real upload speed—not the download speed or Airtel plan name—and leave upload capacity free for fluctuations and other devices.
Before you start: check YouTube access and Airtel upload
- Your YouTube channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. YouTube says a person must be at least 16 to live stream. If this is the channel’s first stream, enable live streaming ahead of time; initial activation can take time.
- Run an upload-speed test on the computer and network you will use for OBS. The result at your location, at the time of streaming, matters more than the advertised download rate. Allow for household traffic and leave spare capacity: YouTube recommends 20% upload headroom. YouTube’s streaming tips explain that total stream bitrate must fit available upload bandwidth.
- Airtel plan names do not establish the upload speed available at your address. Check the terms for your exact plan and location. Airtel’s Xstream Fiber terms state a 3333 GB per billing-cycle fair-usage threshold, after which speed may be reduced to up to 2 Mbps; Airtel also reserves the right to amend its FUP. Confirm that the terms apply to your service before relying on this figure.
A wired Ethernet connection from the computer to the router is an option if convenient, but it does not guarantee uninterrupted service. Test the actual setup either way.

Set up a single-video loop in OBS
- Install and open OBS Studio. Create or select a scene for the broadcast.
- In the Sources panel, select + and add Media Source. Choose the local video file.
- In the Media Source properties, enable Loop. Confirm the file plays in the OBS preview and fits the canvas; use the source transform or fit-to-screen option if needed.
- Check the source’s audio settings. Make sure the intended audio is audible and that you are not unintentionally broadcasting silence or unwanted repeated audio.
- For multiple videos, add a VLC Video source, create its playlist, and enable Loop Playlist so playback restarts after the playlist ends. OBS documents both source types in its Media Sources guide.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live. In Live Control Room, use the Stream tab to create or schedule an encoder stream.
- Copy the server URL and stream key shown by YouTube. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select the appropriate YouTube service or configure the server, then enter the URL and key. Prefer YouTube’s RTMPS server option when supported; RTMPS encrypts the connection to YouTube.
- Treat the stream key like a password. Do not show it in the video, a screen share, or a public post. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before continuing.
- In OBS, open Settings → Output and set the video bitrate and encoder options to suit the chosen resolution and frame rate. YouTube publishes encoder bitrate ranges by resolution and frame rate in its live encoder settings. Use those recommendations as a starting point, then ensure the total bitrate stays within your measured upload capacity with headroom. Do not choose the highest resolution by default.
- In Settings → Video, select the output resolution and frame rate you intend to send. Keep them consistent with the bitrate plan and the source. Check YouTube’s current encoder guidance for the relevant codec and resolution because settings and interface labels can change.
- Select Start Streaming in OBS. Wait for the stream preview in Live Control Room, then check that the picture is moving, the audio is right, and YouTube reports healthy stream status. Select Go live in Live Control Room when the scheduled workflow requires it.
Keep the broadcast running and end it cleanly
OBS loops the source, but the broadcast still depends on the computer, OBS, power, and broadband connection staying available. Keep the computer from sleeping, leave OBS running, and monitor YouTube’s stream health and audio/video quality. YouTube recommends testing under realistic conditions before a broadcast; an unlisted test can help you check the complete path without presenting it as a public event.

When finished, end the event in YouTube and stop streaming in OBS. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its stated archive guidance does not establish that a stream lasting 12 hours or longer will be saved as one recording, so keep a local copy if you need a dependable recording of a longer broadcast.

Troubleshoot common loop and connection problems
- The video stops at the end: Open the Media Source properties and check Loop. For a playlist, check Loop Playlist on the VLC Video source.
- YouTube shows no preview: Check that OBS is streaming, the server URL and stream key match the current YouTube Studio stream, and the channel is eligible to go live. If the key was exposed or replaced, update the value in OBS.
- The stream buffers or health is poor: Lower the output bitrate or resolution, retest upload speed, and reduce competing network use. Recheck the stream’s total bitrate against available upload with YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom.
- The picture is present but audio is missing or wrong: Check the file’s audio, the Media Source audio settings, and OBS’s audio meters and output configuration before going live again.
- The stream drops during a long session: Check power and sleep settings, OBS status, router connection, and YouTube stream health. A wired connection may be worth trying, but it cannot guarantee uptime.
- Performance changes after heavy use: Check Airtel’s current terms for your plan, including any fair-usage conditions, and retest upload speed. The published Xstream Fiber threshold may not apply identically to every service or location.
