Use OBS Studio on the mini PC to play a hotel promotion video as a looping Media Source, then send OBS to a YouTube Live stream using the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio. Before going public, test the complete setup—including the video loop, encoding, network connection, and unattended run time. A loop setting alone does not guarantee a stable 24/7 broadcast.
Before you start
- A mini PC that can encode your chosen resolution, frame rate, and OBS scene reliably. No universal minimum specifications are established here; test the specific machine and configuration you plan to use.
- OBS Studio and a local copy of the hotel’s approved promotional video, or the approved clips for a playlist.
- A reliable internet connection with enough upload capacity for the stream, plus headroom for network variation and other office traffic.
- A verified YouTube channel that is eligible to stream. YouTube says first-time live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours, so check access well before launch.
- Permission to broadcast every visual, logo, voice recording, and music track in the video.
Prepare and clear the promotional content
Use a finished promotional asset that is appropriate to show repeatedly: check its text, contact details, offers, captions, audio levels, and end-to-start transition. If you use multiple clips, decide their order and whether the transition between the last and first clip is acceptable.

The hotel is responsible for having the rights needed to broadcast the content, including music rights. Hotel-owned footage does not automatically clear rights in a song, performer, stock clip, or other third-party material. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a match may trigger a warning, a placeholder, an interruption, or termination. Even licensed material can be detected, and the rights owner may need to allowlist the channel. Review YouTube’s live-stream terms and YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.

Set up the loop in OBS
Loop one promotional video
- Open OBS Studio and create or select a scene for the hotel promotion.
- In the Sources panel, select + and add a Media Source. Give it a recognizable name, such as “Hotel promotion.”
- Choose the local video file. Enable Loop in the Media Source properties, then apply the settings.
- Check the OBS preview for framing, black bars, clipped text, and visible controls or desktop elements. Play the video through its end and into the next cycle to check that playback restarts as intended.

Loop a playlist of clips
If the promotion is made of separate files, add a VLC Video source, build the playlist in the intended order, and enable Loop Playlist. Check that the installed OBS setup supports the chosen media files, then play through the playlist and its restart. A single edited master is simpler to maintain; a playlist makes individual clips easier to replace but requires checking their order and transitions.
Create the YouTube Live stream
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream, and set its title, description, privacy, and other metadata.
- Choose the stream’s encoder settings in YouTube Studio and copy the stream URL and stream key.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream. Select YouTube as the service and enter the stream key; if OBS asks for a server, use the stream URL and server details supplied by YouTube. Labels may differ between OBS versions and connection methods.
- Keep the stream key private: it is a credential that lets an encoder broadcast to the channel. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update OBS.
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time enablement can take up to 24 hours. Check eligibility and follow YouTube’s current encoder setup guidance before the planned launch.

Choose encoding and network settings
Use settings that both the mini PC and the actual connection can sustain. The right resolution and frame rate depend on the source video, OBS scene, hardware encoding capacity, and measured upload performance; the available evidence does not support prescribing one mini PC model or universal bitrate.

- Protocol: YouTube recommends RTMPS. Select it in OBS if the service configuration offers it.
- Rate control: YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends constant bitrate (CBR).
- Keyframes: Set a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube says not to exceed four seconds.
- Resolution, frame rate, and bitrate: Match them to the content and a stable tested upload rate. If the mini PC struggles or the network cannot sustain the stream, reduce the output demands and test again.
- Upload headroom: YouTube recommends leaving 20% of upload bandwidth available beyond the stream’s total bitrate. Shared office connections may deliver less bandwidth to OBS than the connection’s headline speed suggests.
Use YouTube’s current recommended encoder settings and network and streaming guidance when configuring the broadcast.

Test the complete setup before using it publicly
- Start with a private or unlisted test stream, as appropriate for the channel and event.
- Start OBS and confirm that YouTube’s Live Control Room receives the video and audio. Check the preview and stream-health indicators.
- Verify the event appears on the intended channel or watch page, and check its appearance on a phone as well as a computer.
- Let the video reach its end and confirm that it loops or that the playlist restarts cleanly. Check audio continuity and overlays during the transition.
- Keep the test running on the mini PC and network configuration intended for the promotion. Watch for dropped frames, encoding strain, connection changes, sleep settings, or other interruptions before relying on it unattended.
YouTube advises setting up encoders at least two hours before an event and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before a scheduled event. Those timings are useful launch-planning guidance, not a guarantee that a test will reveal every long-run failure. YouTube’s live-streaming tips cover testing and monitoring.
Plan for operation and archives
Keep the mini PC powered, prevent the operating system from sleeping or restarting unexpectedly, and make sure the network connection remains available. Monitor the Live Control Room and the actual stream rather than assuming the loop is still healthy because OBS remains open. Test the exact operating-system, OBS, hardware, and network configuration you intend to leave running; the loop feature alone does not establish continuous unattended reliability.

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not count on an archive for a longer continuous broadcast; keep the original promotional file separately. See YouTube’s archive guidance.

- YouTube does not receive a signal: Confirm OBS is streaming, the correct stream key and URL are entered, and the event is open in Live Control Room. If the key was reset or exposed, replace it in OBS.
- The stream is unstable or drops frames: Check YouTube stream health, available upload bandwidth, and competing traffic on the office network. Restore the recommended 20% upload headroom or lower the bitrate, resolution, or frame rate, then test again.
- The mini PC struggles to encode: Check OBS’s encoding and rendering indicators and simplify the scene or reduce output demands. There is no evidence-based universal hardware threshold; confirm the revised settings on the actual PC.
- The video does not restart: Reopen Media Source properties and check Loop. For a VLC playlist, check Loop Playlist, file availability, and playlist order.
- A clip has no picture or sound: Check that the media file plays locally, OBS has the intended source selected, and the audio source is reaching the OBS mixer. Test the complete file in the stream preview.
- YouTube displays a copyright warning or interrupts the stream: Review the matched content and confirm the channel has the necessary broadcast permissions. If a rights owner licensed the material, ask whether the channel must be allowlisted; do not assume a license prevents automated detection.
- The broadcast is not available when expected: Confirm the channel is verified and eligible, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time live enablement.
