To run a viewer poll in Streamlabs Desktop, enable Cloudbot, create and save a poll profile with a title and at least two voting choices, then click Start Poll when you want viewers to vote. Viewers use the poll’s chat command, documented as !vote <option>. Add the Poll source only if you also want results displayed on stream.
Set up and run a Cloudbot poll

Enable Cloudbot
Open the Streamlabs Dashboard and enable Cloudbot for your channel. Streamlabs’ current setup guide recommends linking your channel first. See the Streamlabs Cloudbot setup guide.

Create a poll profile
Go to Cloudbot’s poll area and choose Add Poll Profile. A profile stores the poll setup so you can reuse it rather than rebuild a recurring poll each time.

Add the question and voting options
Enter a title and at least two options. Give each choice a name and a command viewers can type to cast a vote. Keep the choices distinct and tell viewers the exact commands in your stream or chat announcement.

Choose optional poll behavior
Set a timer or duration if the poll should close automatically. You can also enable vote notifications so viewers receive confirmation that their vote was recorded.

Save, then start the poll
Save the profile. When you are ready to collect votes, select Start Poll from the profile list. Cloudbot announces the poll in chat and tells viewers how to vote. The documented viewer command is

Show poll results on the stream
A chat poll does not require an on-screen widget. If you want viewers watching the video to see a visual display of results, add Streamlabs’ Poll source in Desktop and start the poll from the Streamlabs Dashboard.

Streamlabs says its Poll Widget supports Twitch and YouTube chat; that statement does not establish identical poll functionality on every other platform. Its Poll Widget page describes the widget. Streamlabs also documents a separate YouTube route from the Desktop chat panel using the plus button and Poll control in its YouTube poll tutorial. That tutorial was updated October 22, 2024, so interface labels may change.
Cloud polls and YouTube chat polls are different workflows
For the reusable Cloudbot setup, create a profile in the poll area and launch it from the profile list or Dashboard. For the YouTube-specific Desktop route, Streamlabs’ tutorial describes starting from the chat panel’s plus button and Poll control. Add the Poll source when you need an on-stream results display; it is not necessary for a poll that runs only in chat.
